Malik Farmer was awesome- the rest of the dealership I'll start/summarize with 3 main points: 1) My salesperson Malik Farmer was excellent in every way. He gets mad props. 2) I ultimately got the car I wanted at an agreeable price. 3) The journey on the way was in a word- tortuous. The WHOLE STORY: I originally saw the posting for a used 2015 VW GTI (some damage reported) on Saturday morning, and I immediately contacted the dealership via the website to ask questions. I was ready to be there by the afternoon, and received a voucher for $250 off the best internet price that day from Shakea Andrews. So far, so good, right? I get there, and Kwansii (floor manager?) introduces me to Malik Farmer, and we find a desk and chat for a bit. After a while, I'm thinking it's time to test drive the car. And so Malik goes off to find the keys...and can't find it...and still can't find it. Completely not his fault. Then Kwansii starts searching for it, and ultimately can't find it, but doesn't actually come by to tell us. In the meantime, we did manage to take a look at the car since the doors were unlocked- but the car was strewn with dog hair and was pretty filthy on the inside. Then I saw a yellow sticker on the windshield saying "Not ready for sale". *groan* So not only were the keys not available, the car was filthy. I felt completely disrespected. Even if I wanted to buy the car then and there, I wasn't able to. What's the point of giving me a "VIP" appointment if nothing is ready? I sure didn't feel like a VIP. What more frustrating is that this car formerly belonged to a current employee at this dealership- and he mentioned that his mom has the copy of the spare key, but she's in Loganville (30 minutes away). I'm just dumbfounded/floored at how unprofessional this experience had been thus far. Only after two hours am I told for sure that the keys are truly nowhere to be found and that I wouldn't be able to test drive it that day. Kind of a waste of my time (and my family's time- they had dropped me off thinking that I'd be able to walk away the same day), no? We live over a half hour away, so that's 3+ hours of wasted time for my whole family- including extra money spent for meals because it was close to dinner time. So Malik told me that he'd keep me posted and let me know as soon as the keys turn up so I can test drive and hopefully purchase. Because the price on this GTI was very good, they got 3 other callers who wanted to purchase, but were turned away because there were no keys. Good on Malik for holding onto the car for me, since I was the first to contact them about it. On the following Wednesday, I came in around 1:30PM to test drive the car. At this point the car was not yet detailed, but maybe there was a bit less dog hair lying around. I test the car, and it drives fine. I ask to take it to an outside inspector for a pre-purchase inspection at the local Tires Plus. They oblige, but just required that Malik be with me there. No gripes about that. The inspection goes well, and we return. I'm ready to talk numbers, and Richard Pannone (Manager, Finance?) comes alongside and we do a few back and forths before agreeing on the advertised price. It's hard to negotiate when it's a very fairly priced GTI, even if the GTI has some minor damage to its exterior. Or I'm just a bad negotiator, which is quite possible. I only got a true apology for my wasted time after mentioning how disrespected I felt through Saturday's experience. I was allowed a full tank of gas (regular, not premium as recommended by VW) as a "sorry". Better than nothing, I guess. Afterwards, it was a lot of waiting- partially for my insurance to send the documents needed- and the other for the detailing. The financial signing/payment process was easy enough. The quality of the detailing was definitely left a WHOLE LOT to be desired. Honestly, besides a decent (but not great) vacuum job, there was no detailing done! A/C vents were still dusty/dirty, cupholders were still stained with grime left by the previous owner, and even dried bug remains weren't properly dealt with on the hood of the car. But I had been at this dealership for over 5 hours, and was more than ready to get out of there. I felt sorry for Malik, because he would promise me something that he expected to be delivered from the used car service department, or from the used car manager (hello, keys?), but it seemed like they wouldn't come through. In hindsight the only benefit I could see from having my time wasted on Saturday was that I actually got first dibs on the car. So yes, I suffered, but I got what I came for, at a price I was ultimately ok with. One last thing. Advertisement issue. The advertisement for this car specifically stated that there was a Roadside assistance package included with this car. But that package was NOWHERE to be found, and ultimately was not included with the car. That's borderline fraudulent. That's not right. If the package is not there, they should not say it is. If you do find a used car you like at this dealership, just ask for Malik Farmer to take care of you. He's only been there for 3 weeks (and sold 6-7 cars)- but he's got the right attitude and will treat you right as much as he can. As for the rest of the people and the quality of the work at the dealership- *shrug*. Malik gets all the positive credit for making this review three star rating, have I made myself clear? More
