I was at the dealership 4 weeks ago and still do not have my deposit back. Multiple calls have gotten me nothing but a lot of hold music. I want to start by saying that my experience is not what everyone my deposit back. Multiple calls have gotten me nothing but a lot of hold music. I want to start by saying that my experience is not what everyone will have, but I want to let any readers know that their experience may not go as smoothly as they hope. I drove 3 ½ hours to Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford to test drive a vehicle on a Saturday. I arrived early that afternoon, and test drove the car. After some discussions I signed a buyer’s order and left a deposit for the vehicle with the understanding that they would not deposit my check. That following Monday I worked through getting financing but needed a couple of things done by the dealership for my credit union to send them a check. Tuesday, I found out that the dealership had deposited the check, and the money withdrawn from my account. I reached out to them to change the buyer’s order to include my deposit, and they said they would send me a check to refund my money since the buyer’s order was completed without any money down. I spoke to the salesperson multiple times that my CU needed a change to the paperwork so they could issue a check, but they would not change the paperwork as needed. The following week after more attempts to get the paperwork updated, my CU decided to issue the check, and have it sent overnight since we were nearly two weeks from me signing that I wanted to purchase the vehicle. The check was delivered to the dealership Friday morning, and signed for a dealership employee. I spoke to the salesperson Thursday to let her know that the check was being sent overnight with the information emailed to her, and that they would have it the next morning so that I could pick up the car. She offered to deliver it to me Monday. My family decided that they wanted to go ahead and pick up the vehicle since it was a long weekend, so we drove the 3 ½ hours to the dealership to pick it up. However, when I arrived the salesperson was busy, and I had to wait over 30 minutes to speak with her about picking up the vehicle. When I told her that I was there to pick up the car, she told me that she could not release it because they did not have the check. I told her that the check had been delivered the day before and reminded her that I had emailed her the credit union’s notification that they would receive the check Friday. The dealership’s response was that I needed to call my CU at 3:00p on a Saturday afternoon to get proof of delivery. I explained that I did not know of any banks open on Saturday afternoons but showed them a copy of the check that was sent with my loan agreement. They said that they would deliver it Monday. That would be over 2 weeks since I put money down on the car, and over a week since requesting a refund of my deposit that was not required due to my loan. The vehicle was not delivered Monday, so Tuesday I told them the return the check to my credit union. In two days it will be three weeks since I first went to the dealership. My CU finally received their check back today, the vehicle was sold to someone else, and I still have not received my money back. I wasted two full Saturdays, many weekday hours, and $300 in gas with nothing to show for it but a bad taste for Rick Hendrick Chevrolet of Buford, GA. Be careful when you deal with Rick Hendrick Chevrolet in Buford, GA. If you do not take care of financing at the dealer and take the vehicle with you, you may never see it again. And do not trust what they say to be 100% truth. Unexpected things happen in life, but sometimes there are too many to be coincidental. More
