Let's begin at the moment where I amicably walk out the door of the dealership, having come close, but not quite to, the deal I need. As I'm driving home, bummed that we came within $500 of the amount I was pre-approved for, (and also my budgeted number, I was not willing to go above,) I think to myself that if I paid that $500 from my savings, I would still only be financing my budgeted number. I go back. (Probably my mistake, but I'm an honorable person, and I just wanted an honorable dealer.) When I am face to face with "bad cop" Rick, (who came into the picture when Shawn, ["good cop" and a really young guy,] found out I was only 1k away from the trade-in amount I needed to make the deal work.) Anyway, when I'm back and talking to Rick, we sit down, and I'm about to get back into it, based on our last offered number, which he, all the sudden, claims was a mis-communication from Shawn, and should have never been on the table in the first place. That was the first act of shadiness. I walk out, irritated. I get in my car and while I'm backing out of the lot, out come both cops. I roll down the window and they, with their remorseful faces, apologize for the misunderstanding. Rick again scolds Shawn for 'writing the number down wrong;" (Yeah, right.) Rick says he's willing to go with that number. I re-quote his most recent number on my trade-in and he interrupts me say, and I quote: "That was not a number, that was a "what if..." question...meaning, what if he offered me an amount, would I stay and take the deal. That's poor business move number 2. He says to me, "If I honor that number will you park your car and come in and make this deal?" I say I'll come in. Probably my mistake number 2. I go in, sit down, and he takes out a printed page of numbers, trying to justify his wrong numbers. (Mistake 2.5, in my mind.) I tell him to hold on, and say I'd like to work with the numbers in the order they were given to me, and ask him to write it down. I give him the numbers, he writes them down, does the math, and does it incorrectly! He doesn't subtract 2.5k, he subtracts 1.5k and hopes I won't notice. SERIOUSLY?! There's poor business 3.5, and just embarrassing. I correct his math, (keep in mind, we're back at the deal he offered with his "what if" question from an hour before, which is still a bit over my budget, but which I had decided to offer cash for, so my financing would not change.) He looks at the numbers, which the math I corrected for him, and begins to ask, "Could you go 3 or 4..." and I interrupt him saying I cannot go higher and remain in my budget. He begins again with, "Could you give me 3 or 4 more minutes and I'll see what I can do?" I smiled, annoyed, and said sure. He comes back and says he just can't do it. I walk out, realizing that this guy is the reason used car salesmen have such a nasty reputation, having been screwed over more times than any person, man or woman, should be. I can't imagine they would try any of these tactics with a man, which makes me sad for the whole situation...sort of...though I'm too irritated to be sad. I'm well educated, and a teacher in a public school. I see 300 students a day, in Groveport, where the Ricart Dealership is located. I am not shy about mentioning to anyone who will listen that Ricart is NOT the place to go if the hope it to be given a fair deal. More

We had good customer service but we specifically asked if the recall work had been done on the truck 3 times, safety issue (gas tank strap recall) and were told 3 times 'yes, it was fixed.' Well, we had to take the truck in for service at another Ford dealership and they looked the truck over and we asked them to verify the recall work was done. They said they were the original straps and they ended up doing the recall work. This was very disappointing to find out and the fact that we were not told the truth when we bought the truck. More

I am very happy with my new car....im very thankful that rick was able to work with me and keep me within my budget. Drew showed me the bike, answered any additional questions I had and submitted the paperwork to the finance guys. Within 20 mins we were signing papers and preparing to load the bike onto the truck. Even after the sale was done Drew went out of his way to make sure that we were able to load the bike without any damage to the bike or hurting ourselves, this we really appreciated Ricart automotive and Drew Elford made this the best experience I have ever had buying a vehicle.
