"Buy back" nightmare To start, I took in my 2015 Kia for service to have a second key made. I received a call asking me to talk about trading it in for a newer car in a "B To start, I took in my 2015 Kia for service to have a second key made. I received a call asking me to talk about trading it in for a newer car in a "Buy back program". I was not initially looking to purchase a car today. The entire process was extremely confusing and lengthy from the phone call telling me about the buy back program to the entire situation. I agreed to come in to learn more about the offers. On the phone it sounded as if Ricart would pay off my car I had despite me saying it had extra miles and less value than the loan. I was told by the caller, "I know what I am offering,I have to in order to make this call" I agreed to come in and talk. I came in and after some expected computer work, I mentioned I wanted to go look at cars, it was then she informed me "We already knew what kind of car I was getting" News to me! It was only after I had been there 45 minutes or more, did I learn I am locked into one certain type of car with a "lateral move" only being able to choose a color. I thought I would just be able to look at any 2019 cars. WRONG, not informed! My first two color choices were not even available, one which I initially was told was on the lot. We had not even discussed numbers and I hadn't even seen vehicles after quite some time. It took forever for the sales rep to get the car to test drive to the point my husband and I started walking around on the lot looking around, more bored than anything. We were not kept in the loop of what step we were in the process or even what the process was as she gathered this or that. We finally drive the only car option other than color which wasn't my first choice.car, We FINALLY talk numbers and this was also a shock. Here is where I am told my unpaid balance is being rolled in to a new loan less the low balled trade in. I just refinanced a week prior and knew the value. I have a college degree in finance and yet was spoken to by the sales rep and financial rep as if I were an uneducated person. I questioned things and this did not go well. I ended up financing several thousand more than the vehicle sticker price. To a point, I understood as my refinance the week prior was 115% the value of my trade in. The value should have been $15,000 plus but Ricart valued it at $11,000. I also knew with the recent refinance, I would get my unused warranty back on my trade in. Talking to the financing person, I was told they were taking that and applying it to my purchase without even consulting me. I didn't realize this was part of their quote even less of "a deal" I questioned this as well and got "Well I could just increase your monthly payment." True but I thought this would be available to me and again was never consulted this was being considered. It should have been considered as a down payment then not zero down effecting the rate. Thinking this was also money coming to me, I was going to use it as paying the loan down accepting financing over the sticker price. Again, incredibly poor communication. As for the initial offer on the phone of getting me in a newer vehicle with a similar monthly payment, that didn't happen either. How did I think this was going to happen as promised? Buying a newer car with a longer payment length. Well, another statement from a dealer that was not true. My payment went from the original payment financed for my old car of $377 a month with Gap insurance to $498 a month with Gap and no $2000 plus in refunded unused warranty. Not only was the cost considerably more, I was locked into a specific car with no choice of hoping to look at potentially different cars even if they were a 2019. My husband and I were there over 5 hours waiting on the incredibly slow process which should have been so much faster since my only role was to "choose a color" My husband was late for work and I was incredibly disappointed with all of it. I WILL NOT ONLY NEVER DO A BUY BACK PROGRAM AGAIN, with promises of what is not possible, I will not be back to Ricart. I don't appreciate being locked into a car and the so called incentives were definitely not. I gelt pressured and lured i ln to talk then assumed I was going to buy. Making it all the way to financing after 5 hours, still learning more details, I almost didn't make the purchase but we were so vested in time and energy, I just wanted the process over and to go home. The entire way home, I regretted my choice and the experience. I could have traded my car in elsewhere and had so many other options. Definitely what I will do in the future but not at Ricart. More
