I went into the car purchasing process knowing that I was interested in a Sonota or an Elantra, but yet not decided on making a purchase immediately. Tracy was friendly and not at all pushy, she answered al interested in a Sonota or an Elantra, but yet not decided on making a purchase immediately. Tracy was friendly and not at all pushy, she answered all of my questions directly and quickly found the answers to those that she didn't know off the top of her head. I was instantly at ease with her and felt her to be very honest and helpful. My goals became her goals, and she obviously kept my best interests in mind as she showed me many cars, and let me take all the time I needed to make a choice. I decided to buy an Elantra, and when I returned the next day on my lunch break from work to finialize paperwork, she was efficient and thorough, moving the process along to financing (Michael) without forgetting anything. Michael was extremely competent and reassuring, and the paperwork was completed in such a smooth and speedy manner that I completed the transaction in record time! I felt secure and appreciated as a valuable, high-quality customer throughout the whole process. More
Shawnee Mission Hyundai, located in Shawnee Mission Kansas. We called and spoke to a nice sales women and advised her that we were looking for 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We explained that we had just left Kansas. We called and spoke to a nice sales women and advised her that we were looking for 2011 Hyundai Sonata. We explained that we had just left Gladestone Hyundai and were shopping for the lowest price. She confirmed that she had the exact car we were looking for over the phone and encouraged us to come by. We drove the 45 minutes to see them and contacted our sales women soon as we arrived. She showed us the car which at different things added to the price. Several hundred dollars for silly things like rear bumper protector which is a clear piece of plastic about like a screen protector on a cell phone. We got right to the point without even driving the vehicle. We showed her the price too beat and asked if they could beat it. She showed the Sales Manager Michael who has a rude approach, and comes off as arrogant (short man syndrome) I think. After wasting our time forcing the sales women to show us the closed service area which could almost be seen by simply standing up from our chair, he returned with a price. Only $130 dollars less than Gladestone Hyundai. When I asked the sales women for a print out, so nothing would change by the next day, the sales manager returned and changed the price to only $30 less. The Manager says "I won't give you one so you can shop around and beat our price, but you can trust me, my word is my bond." Which word was he talking about the one coming from the side of his neck. What a joke and lack of confidence in his price and company. I did not tell him my profession, nor did he ask, but anyone can spot a bad liar from a mile away. The sales women was not at all shocked when we left his business cards on her desk. She could not even find any words, all though her expression said it all. Hyundai does not need sales managers like this, it will drive their customers to competitors. Go see them in Gladestone where they are a lot friendlier to deal with and Shawnee Mission Hyundai can keep the $30 dollars. Oh no wait when I include the Hyundai financing, I will save $470 dollars more in Gladestone. Bye Bye Shawnee Mission Hyundai. More
Overall our experience with Shawnee Mission Hyundai was very good. My wife purchased a new 2011 Santa Fe. This is her first brand new car in some 37 yrs. Since I am retired I was doing the leg work for my wife’s purchase. The first salesman that latched on to me when I came through the door was Henry Frazier. He knew his product, was not pushy and overall was a delight to work with. Then we spoke to Michael Ball, Sales Manager. It seems like in all dealerships the sales person has no authority to negotiate price. Mr. Ball was very professional and we were able to come to a negotiated price relatively easy. However, one surprise that Henry or Michael should have disclosed to us rookie new car buyers early on was a $400 fee called a Kansas Automobile Dealers Association fee (KADA fee). Of course, we knew there was 8.775% sales tax but a heads up on all additional fees should be given to customers. All these additional amounts add up and affect the total amount of money coming out of our wallets. Next, came the closing and paper signing with Michael Downs. The new car “stress level” up to this point was relatively painless, but our experience with Mr. Downs was quite the opposite. To begin with Mr. Downs knew at noon we would be in the dealership to sign papers at 5 p.m. My expectation was that all paper work would have been prepared for my wife’s signature and we would be done in 15 minutes with paper signing. However, we were kept waiting for over an hour. We were told that Mr. Downs had other buyers ahead of us. He was busily printing out forms for us at 7 p.m. Then came the sales pitch for a $416 prepaid maintenance agreement. We had a lot of questions about this maintenance agreement and also questions overall about the sales contract. It seemed the more we questioned certain items and tried to understand what we were signing and getting on the maintenance agreement the more defensive Mr. Downs became. Mr. Downs did not want to hear any questions and just wanted to throw papers in front of us and say “sign here”. When we asked to see a brochure on the maintenance agreement or some written information we were told that did not exist. Seems odd a big dealership that is pushing a maintenance agreement would not have a slick marketing brochure on this product. Basically, we felt very rushed through the closing. Mr. Downs was rude, impatient, questioned our financial judgment and was reluctant to explain anything or answer questions. I could write another paragraph on the “signing” experience. It was not enjoyable dealing with Mr. Downs. But again overall we are impressed with Shawnee Mission Hyundai and have high hopes the 2011 Santa Fe and the dealership will deliver for the next 150K miles like my wife’s old car did. More
We likely wouldn't have used this dealer if they weren't so friendly and persistent from the first moment they got our information. Rebecca, our sales advisor, called right away, and we hit it off like bes so friendly and persistent from the first moment they got our information. Rebecca, our sales advisor, called right away, and we hit it off like best friends. When they didn't have the car in stock that we were looking for, we headed home. But the phone rang within an hour and Rebecca had found the perfect car for us. Not only was it newer with fewer miles than the competitor, but it cost less! When we went to pick up the vehicle, we only had an hour. Rebecca and Mike made it work, and Rebecca even kept an eye on our kids while we signed the papers. Mike made sure we made the smartest financing choice and even offered us some creative choices for our warranty that I had never heard of. Great experience overall, and I would definitely recommend them to my dearest friends. More
