My wife and I recently purchased a 2011 Hyundai Tucson at Skillman's Westside Auto Mall, and without a doubt, it was the most pleasant car shopping experience that we've had in our 31 years of marriage. We came into the dealership wanting to buy a 'gently used' car, eventhough my wife really had no idea what kind of car she wanted (we were primarily shopping for her a car since I'm a truck guy, and my current truck is fairly new and in great shape). Anyway, our salesman (John Leamnson) did the impossible, he narrowed down (after much questioning, and more importantly, a great deal of listening of what she wanted, or at least what she thought she wanted) our car search to 4 different models (which he very patiently let her test drive). Our test drives were right out of Goldilocks, one was to large, one was to small, and our Tucson was 'just right', and even in my wife's favorite color. After being at the dealership for some time, we were running late (we had an evening grandparent babysitting obligation for our daughter and son in law), so our salesman arranged to park my truck around back, and we drove the Tucson home for the evening. After driving our future car home that evening, we were convinced that Leamnson had stirred us in the right direction, and we returned the following day to buy our car. We also need to say kudos to the finance guy (I can't remember his first name, but his last name was Canary). We paid cash for our car, but Mr. Canary was most helpful in walking us through the extra warranty options that were available (we purchased the extended warranty that give's us 'bumper to bumper' coverage until 11/11/20). After we finished up the necessary paperwork, I needed to leave due to another obligation, but my wife spent additional time with Leamnson learning how to properly use (especially the phone sync system) all of the Tucson's 'bells and whistles'. In closing, I have to again state that purchasing our car from Skillman was wonderful. Our salesman was very thoughtful and we were especially impressed that he took the time to figure out the kind of car that my wife wanted, and at the price range we were looking for (speaking of price, our final purchase price was more than fair based on the internet searches, via: Edmund's, NADA, and Kelly Blue Book). I stumbled into the Ray Skillman WestSide Auto Mall lot on Friday December 13th by sheer accident. I had spent all day car shopping and had been all over town looking for "my car". On my way home I saw a cute white car in front of me and I asked the passenger in my car what make was that car they replied it's a Hyundai Sonata. My friend stated there's a Hyundai dealership right across the street lets at least drive through the lot and see if there's anything you like. Upon driving through the lot I saw a couple of cars that caught my eye so I parked and went inside to inquire. I was approached by salesman Mike Rensberger who was very friendly. I gave Mike my budget and short list of must haves: 4 doors, leather seats and a sun roof. Within minutes Mike located a couple of cars within my budget that met all my criteria. The very first car Mike showed me I test drove and I fell in love with a 2011 Hyunda Sonata Limited the car was a beautiful powder blue with gold metallic flakes in the paint. The car was loaded with heated leather seats and more bells and whistles that I knew what to do with. The price of the car was more than my budgeted amount but Mike with the help of the finance team made it possible for me to buy this car without overextending myself. I cannot say enough about my great experience at this dealership. It had been 12 years since I purchased a car and I'm glad that I found a dealership that still practice providing great customer service. This is the first foreign car I've ever owned and if this car runs anything like the excellent customer service I received I will be a Hyundai owner for life! More
My wife and I just moved to Indy in October and planned to purchase a new AWD SUV after settling in. After narrowing down our choices, we went to Ray Skillman West Auto Mall to look at a 2014 Hyundai Sant to purchase a new AWD SUV after settling in. After narrowing down our choices, we went to Ray Skillman West Auto Mall to look at a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe and test drive it. We were met by Michael Weil (sales rep). I was impressed with the sales approach used by Mike - it was more consulting than selling, understanding our needs and pointing out pros and cons of various cars we discussed. He came across very unbiased and no pressure. My wife and I really appreciated this approach including the amount of time Mike spent with us. Negotiations were very straightforward, no haggling and no dealing. Their finance guy was also very straightforward. He offered several additional items such as extended warranties, but did not put the pressure on - it was really refreshing. We have purchased many new cars over the years, and with this Hyundai dealership, there is a definite shift from the stereo-typed new car dealership of the past. The followup from Mike to ensure we were happy with our purchase (we are) and his continued availability to us if we have questions or need additional help, has been outstanding. We are happy with the car, would buy another Hyundai based on our experience so far, and would definitely return to this dealership. Our experience far surpassed our expectations. More
I purchased a vehicle from Ray Skillman Hyundai in early July of this year, and my experience was exactly what I hoped it would have been. I worked primarily with Zach here, and the entire process was frien July of this year, and my experience was exactly what I hoped it would have been. I worked primarily with Zach here, and the entire process was friendly, easy, and left me with an excellent impression of the dealership. Zach was very accommodating in fitting my schedule, even though my purchase was made over the July 4th weekend when he would likely have preferred to spend his time elsewhere. He gave his honest opinions on the merits of each vehicle I was looking at, and made sure to take into account the factors I prioritized in my vehicle purchase. I never felt pressured to make a decision or accept options/features I was not interested in, and I was treated very fairly on the price side of things. Prior to shopping here, I received a quote on the vehicle I was interested in from a dealership owned by a family friend, in order to benchmark a "fair" price for the car. I anticipated having to use this quote to negotiate Ray Skillman's offer slightly lower, but to my surprise, the first quote I received was actually ~$700 LOWER than the offer from the family friend. As a result of this and my overall experience, I felt that this dealership was the right place to make my purchase. More

We were unexpectedly on the market for a used car after our car experienced mechanical problems too expensive to repair. Having experienced financial difficulties in the recent past we figured getting a decent used car was out of the question. We started looking at all the local ads, Ebay and Craigslist. All along thinking we would not be able to get financed through a dealer. One of the local Honda dealers on 116th street had a vehicle which we set up an appointment to see but when we arrived they said the car had sold the night before. They did not call and let us know and then tried to push another car that we did not want. Another dealer in Avon would not even bother with us and our lack of credit. After several days of utter disappointment I called about one more vehicle, this time at one of the Ray Skillman locations. I talked to a very friendly sales lady; who even after I explained our situation, said they could help. Before I would even drive to see a vehicle I talked to the finance guy at the Ray Skillman Auto Mall. He said he could work with us, I said I wanted a vehicle I picked out and wanted to drive. They convinced me to drive over, Michael Rensberger meet us when we arrived. He sat down with us and took some basic info, then introduced us to the finance guy. The car I wanted wasn't there, so they drove me and my wife across town to test drive the car I wanted! We drove the car back and sat down with the finance guy. We got the car! They worked with us like we were decent human beings. They were not pushy, answered all of our questions and then financed a car for us. Very understanding people. I would recommend!!! More
Been looking at new cars for quite some time. I looked at several cars at several places. When I called Ray Skillman looking for a new Azera, one of the sales managers Troy answered the phone and greeted at several cars at several places. When I called Ray Skillman looking for a new Azera, one of the sales managers Troy answered the phone and greeted me very professionally. I told him what I was looking for and that I wanted to lease. He found the car, gave me a great price and told me to come on by and pick it up. It was that simple! When I arrived he introduced me to Audra and she took it from there. Because I was so pressed for time, I signed a form and drove the car home that day. When I arrived the next morning to do the paperwork, I had changed my mind on the color of the car and they very politely and very quickly changed me out to a different color....No questions asked. Audra took the time to show me the car, answer questions, set up my Essentials package, scheduled my first maintenance appointment and even listened to a couple of my goofy jokes! All-in-all, this was the easiest car dealer experience I've EVER had! I'll definitely recommend Ray Skillman West Auto Mall to my friends. Audra is a FANTASTIC sales lady!! More

I always educate myself on features/type of car I want and even read the "Tips to Avoid" pages, so I don't leave like usual feeling that I didn't get a good deal. On Sept. 12th, 2013, I walked into Ray Skillman Hyundai and was approached by a salesman, Harrison. We talked a bit and then took a test drive of a new 2013 Elantra. This was only the second dealership in my search to enter. He was the first salesman that I've ever dealt with that was not high-pressure or tried to up-sale me into something I wasn't wanting. He did manage to get me to do a few options and politely asked for the sale. I felt like Harrison was treating me right and I didn't want to look any more, so I nervously agreed to a price that for the first time ever I did OK on. Next, we moved to financing the car and Jay helped me out. This is the part where they try and get you on the extended service plan, which I never get. I told Jay that if it wasn't for Harrison, I would not be there talking to him about financing. I had already been pre-approved by my bank, but Jay said he could do better. Jay was patient and helped me talk myself into the service plan. After asking if this was the absolute best deal they could give me, signed on the dotted line. Feeling I was overall getting a good deal went home with a new car. I had to come back to have the Ziebarting and a remote starter put in. The service people were all very nice and professional. I get my new car and the next day I see that there was a better financing package available. Frustrated and feeling now like I didn't get the best deal, I called Jay up and asked what he could do. He made some calls and within an hour told me to stop by that new paperwork would be ready for the new financing. I go tonight to sign and feel that a good deal has become a great deal! I highly recommend this dealer and the above mentioned people. They were professional, nice to talk with, and helpful in getting me the car I wanted. At this point in time, I'd not even consider going anywhere else to buy a car and will tell others of how they treat potential buyers. I hope this car and future scheduled maintenance appointments are this easy and the people are this nice and helpful. Thank you again for making this a stress-free and pleasant experience!
