We were travelling from eastern Kentucky home to northern Illinois in our 2018 GMC 2500HD Denali with 6.6L Duramax diesel when the truck went into "limp mode" repeatedly. I would pull off, shut the truck off, and start up fine again. Unfortunately it ran good for fewer and fewer miles before it went back into "limp mode." The last time it happened I was in I-74 right in front of Ray Skillman. I saw diesel service sign on the building and pulled in. They were simply awesome. I was travelling with my wife, 2-dogs, and a bed full of cargo. They welcomed us and our dogs and got our truck right in for diagnosis. They said I needed an injector and a wiring harness, but they did not have the parts. The would be there in the morning and could repair my truck and get us back on the road before lunch. They gave us (including our dogs) a ride to a hotel to spend the night, then came back and picked us up in the morning. When we got back to the dealership, our truck was done and ready to go. Hat off to Service Consultant Rien Hazelwood, and our driver, Tristan who took great care of us and our vehicle. Also, everyone stopped by to make big over the dogs making them feel welcome as well while we waited in day 1 for our diagnosis and ride. Great experience. Great service handling a roadside emergency with a specialized diesel repair. If I lived in Indiana I would buy my next truck here. I also would give them 6-stars if I could. My truck performed like a champ (normal) as we continued our 600-mile trip home and we arrived w/out further incident. More
I purchased a 2018 Suburban at this location in May on December 26 the transmission failed. Now I understand that happened on a used vehicle I don’t understand why the mechanic working the car pulled the December 26 the transmission failed. Now I understand that happened on a used vehicle I don’t understand why the mechanic working the car pulled the dip stick saying the fluid was burn and clear vs red. I called the Skillman multiple times and was everything from they don’t check fluids on used cars to the car doesn’t have dipstick. The y won’t even acknowledge that this is a basic action to take on used cars. Even oil change business check fluids. Before writing this review I gave them multiple opportunities to admit they could have don’t better but they won’t do so. It is of note that at no point I asked for any compensation. When you purchase $28,000 used car you expect someone to do something as simple as check all fluids and to notice something is wrong. More
Their service department had a problem tracking down a broken wire from Body Control Module to the Power Supply Module which seems very understandable. BEWARE ! I am a GM employee and I placed a deposit on a vehicle in transit and told them I didn't want any dealer add-ons. I got my own loan so all they had to do was let me sign the paperwork, send a fax and get their money. When it arrived a month later I went to pick it up and it had $3000 of dealer add-ons plus a $225 doc fee which is supposed to be $75 for GM employee. They refused to even negotiate so I got my deposit back and told them to keep it. Go see Andrea at Champion Chevrolet Avon instead! More
