Paul Solis: Give him a raise! The first thing I thought of when buying a car, from a dealer, as a young person, was getting ripped off. I mean, yes, you will walk out of there with The first thing I thought of when buying a car, from a dealer, as a young person, was getting ripped off. I mean, yes, you will walk out of there with a brand-spanking new car, but there will be a catch 22. (I'm not talking about interest rates or depreciation, which are factors that I can't control, but I'm talking about the unnecessary massive markup.) Not so with Paul from Ramsey Subaru! (Before I go on, let me add one more thing, I'm the type that would rather wait and save up for quality than cheaply buy for mere quantity and social status.) I started off with just three qualifications: 1) The vehicle must have vents for my back seat passengers, 2) I told him how much money I make per year (to see what figure he would come up with) and 3) I want a Legacy. What impressed me was that he immediately knew my price range/cap for the vehicle and stuck to it, immediately narrowing down my options on the cars in their inventory. He also gave me a short review on the Subaru brand, which (because I had done my research ahead of time) I knew most of, yet I still learned more things. He showed me actual safety features on a demo car that applies to all Subaru's. When I asked him questions about other specific features on the Legacy (not indicated on the website), he wasn't afraid to say that he wasn't 100% sure and he directed the questions to the experts at the dealer. I appreciate his honesty very much. He also took the time to explain to me how financing works (on the dealer's end) and I began to appreciate the work of the people in the financial department. (That's an official shout out!) His interpersonal side was there from the jump but became more apparent when I came back to pick up the license plates and registration within a few weeks. I had arrived with a front bumper guard to replace the stock license plate frame and a license plate cover for the back plates which included special screws that could only be unscrewed with a key (to lessen the chances of my rear plates from getting stolen). The front was easy for the worker to do but when it came to the back, the worker tried but struggled. (I wouldn't have been surprised if he had several other plates to install at the dealer so I wasn't upset when he went away.) Anyways, Paul was called up from his desk after a few minutes of trial and error. Apparently, it turns out that my special screws were too wide to go inside existing plastic anchors. Paul could have stopped at that, and went back to his desk (because I don't think a car salesman is paid to be a handyman). But no, he went the extra mile. He got his hands on a screwdriver and another tool (possibly a chisel) and my man went to WORK. He opened the trunk and asked permission if he could remove the carpet-like material on the underside of the trunk and began to pop out the anchors. One came out quickly but the other was stubborn. Did you know that the man stood there for about 5 - 10 minutes trying to get the thing out, using different techniques and different angles, handling it like a pro? After that, he inserted the anchors that I brought and was able to install the plate cover with the special screws. I was so thankful for his time. I came back for another question too, after that, and again, Paul was on the money. He didn't seem to get tired of me. In conclusion, my service from Paul was IMCOMPARABLE, from start to finish. He put his best foot forward. I would purchase a car (new or used) from him anytime and I would highly recommend him to anyone. Anonymous More
