I went to Rairdon’s Honda of Burien for a 30,000 mile maintenance on my 2020 Honda CRV EX-L. When I arrived at the Service Center I was promptly checked-in for a previously scheduled appointment. I was maintenance on my 2020 Honda CRV EX-L. When I arrived at the Service Center I was promptly checked-in for a previously scheduled appointment. I was told I could expect up to a four hour wait and I informed him that I would wait onsite in the lounge area. Over the course of time the Service Advisor came to check on me and gave me a status update once. The first time he came to the lounge was to share a printed Multi-Point Vehicle Inspection. The Service Advisor asked me if I wanted to have additional service for three things that were listed as “Required Attention Soon” which I declined. The Service Advisor returned about an hour and half later to inform me that my car was done, parked out front, and I could check out. The Service Advisor escorted me from the lounge to his desk where there was a male customer sitting. The other customer and I conversed while the Service Advisor printed more documents and got my signature on a few things. After I paid for my services the Service Advisor asked me if I would review his service and slid a piece of paper toward me. I told him I would and he handed me a pen. I gave him a good review; even writing something along the lines of the service advisor being very personable and informative throughout the service. After I wrote the review I went to sanitize my hand using the hand sanitizer on the desk. The hand sanitizer shot out and hit my face and chest area. I squealed and immediately started wiping it up. While I was wiping the sanitizer off my face and top the Service Advisor said, “Yeah baby do it to me again. I like when you do that me.” He started laughing and the other male customer sitting at his desk laughed and said, “I like that action too!” I was in shock about the unwelcomed, highly inappropriate, and unprofessional sexual innuendo from a Rairdon’s Honda of Burien employee and another customer about something that happened to me. The exchange made me feel very uncomfortable and I grabbed my car keys and quickly walked out of the building to my car in shock, offended, disappointed, and embarrassed about what the Service Advisor said and implied. It is very well known that many women feel uncomfortable in auto shops and dealing some mechanics because of the belief that they will be taken advantage of or treated unfairly. Up until this point I took pride in my first new vehicle purchase with Rairdon’s Honda. I have referred many people to Rairdon’s but now I feel differently. I debated about reporting this out of fear of retaliation or other adverse action since I have a new vehicle and need to have my vehicle serviced regularly (including using my free oil changes) at Rairdon’s Honda. I purchased my vehicle in Sumner but the Burien location is the closest and most convenient to where I live. I also thought about the many other women that may come across the The Service Advisor and wondered if he has history of making unwelcomed comments/advances like this with other customers or co-workers. Most importantly, I would feel very uncomfortable sending another woman to the Rairdon’s Honda of Burien Service Center out of fear of this happening to them. I would like to know how this situation will be remedied. I have written to Rairdon's Honda of Burien (no response) and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. (pushed it back toward the franchise). More
