I contacted them via email with the exact specifications I wanted. I received a quick response verifying not only what I was looking for, but that it was on their lot. The response included their price. I checked it against some local competition and even KBB. The price was reasonable - I did my homework. I made an appointment ("ok, I am on my way there...") and there it was sitting all clean ready for a test drive. Took it for a spin and did the paperwork as I enjoyed a free "latte" from their waiting room coffee machine. No surprises, took advantage of their low financing rates. Drove it home happy as a clam about the whole experience. More

Mike Scarff Subaru made the whole experience even worse. I had a healthy down payment, a 777 credit score and needed to buy a car that day as I drive consistently for work. From the start, the sales rep "Sgt" showed little to no interest in helping me and made multiple comments like "we are so busy that our lot won't have any parking soon" and "we can barely keep cars on the lot." I felt like he was doing his best to let me know it didn't matter if I bought a car or not and they didn't need my business. When we sat down to talk about price, I asked what kind of room they had to work on the price. Instead of saying anything, he grabbed a flyer, put it in front of me and pointed to the statement that said something to the affect of "the price listed is the price, period." I provided him with the amount of my down payment and what I needed my monthly payment to be and the APR I was shooting for. He got up, came back and told me what car price I would have to find, which did not match any of the 3 vehicles we had looked at. AND, that was it. He didn't offer to show me used vehicles, didn't offer to see what else we could do, NOTHING. So, 20 minutes later, I left Hinshaw's Honda down the street with a 2017 Honda Civic Hatchback for a higher cost than he told me I had to find for the exact monthly payment and APR I was able to pay. Scarff quoted us $8000 for a new transmission because they can't repair the CVT transmission, which they now put in all their cars. They would not help with a discount or a trade in. They told us to yry to trade it in at another dealer before it completely blew and was no longer driveable. We are horrified by the way we were treated at this dealership. More

My sales guy didn't seem interested aftet he had sold the car to me and the service dept. was horrible. Except for Linda, Doug and Ed in Sales, the service department was HORRIBLE! Very bad communication and training to new employee with whom I had scheduled an appointment for service and reached on time. I was waiting and waiting and after 2 hours had passed they called me to their service desk wanting to know what was to be done. My appointment time was not honored and they didn't seem to care. That is the reason I ran to the sales department and finance to talk to Linda who had helped me previously with my paperwork when I'd bought my car a year ago. She went to Sales manager Ed, who helped me finally sorting out with the service manager. Though these 2 Subaru people helped me, overall it was a very frustrating experience with their service dept. I shouldn't have to go through this after having made an appointment. No one should have to. More
Sales Department is Terrible - Better options close by I would like to start by saying that this is only for their sales team. The service guys are awesome, especially Sam. 1) I was very unimpressed with their sales team. I first went in to see what they'd offer for trade in on my truck. The man "helping" me, Jim Read, was pushing for me to tell them what we were shopping for, but I wanted to know trade in value first and I made that very clear. He kept asking and I kept saying no. He acted like he didn't want to give me the time of day. They did a half-xxx inspection of the truck and quoted a really low number (compared to KBB and what other dealerships offered me). I told him thanks for his time and left. 2) They do not keep their inventory up-to-date. They had an impreza on their website and third party sites for weeks after it was sold, which was frustrating 3) Over a month later they had a car for a reasonable price so I called on it and got a different sales person, Steve Brondos. I asked if the low number they original quoted for my trade in was the best they could do. He couldn't find any of the information in their system and said 'that's weird, any time we quote for a trade in it goes in the system", so I explained my poor experience to this sales person. He just said "oh" and moved on; no "I'm sorry to hear that" or anything that you would learn in customer service 101. He said to text him information about my trade and he'd get back to be right away. I texted him information, didn't hear back for over an hour so I made sure he got it the text. He said "yep working on it". Then asked what the other dealership offered. I answered, and he never replied. We went a bought a Crosstrek from another dealership that night. Auburn's loss. Definitely not recommending them or going there again. Apparently they have enough business that they're not too concerned about trying to win yours. Good luck! More

They have had my 2015 Outback for two weeks and have not fixed it. They finally gave up and ordered a new part - which has taken over a week to arrive (still not here) but the worst part is dealing with them. They act like I'm bothering them when I call - because they don't call me. This is warranty work and I've gotten multiple stories about why it's taking so long. Bottom line is, I do not trust these people. They care about selling cars, not about customers. More

Jim told us that he would contact the Alaska DMV and handle the registration. It is now 11/3/15 and the vehicle is still not registered. Still no license plates. Here is a quote from our communications with Jim on 11/3/15 after we requested information that was missing from the forms we received at the time of purchase; "Pain in the xxx could I also get lienholder address for JP Morgan. These Alaskan deals are terrible." This text may have sent to us by mistake. Still this is less than stellar customer service after spending $32K with them. Alaskans Beware! More

The car itself is an awesome automobile and the purchase experience was pretty exceptional. My first maintenance appointment was equally impressive. Since then I've referred two friends, both single women, to Mike Scarff, one of whom has already bought a new Subaru and reports that she had the same quality experience I did. Nice to know you can refer your friends and trust that they'll be extremely well taken care of! More
