I made an appointment on New Year's Eve to lease a new Subaru. It's something I've wanted to do for several months. After sitting down with a salesperson we made a deal that was great and fit my budget. However, because of a mistake that was made with the value of my trade-in, the finance department informed me the price was going to increase and therefore but the cost of the lease ended up above what my budget would allow. It was a strange feeling going from being minutes away from driving a new car to going home without it. On New Years Day I wrote them an email about my experience and about the verbal agreement we had made and I waited. Before I was out of bed on January 2nd, I received a call from the dealership to apologize for the mistake and to let me know they would honor the deal that was agreed on. I made an appointment for later that day and within less than an hour of arriving, I was able to drive away with my new Outback at the price we had agreed to. During that time, I had several managers and staff approach me to apologize and to take ownership of the error. They were professional, courteous, and very personable. I had my two-year-old son with me so they even presented him with his own new RC toy car. They made both of our days very special. Even Kevin Rafferty himself followed up with me during the week to makes sure I was fully satisfied. We had a very pleasant and friendly 30-minute conversation and personally invited me to visit with him the next time I was at the dealership for service. The deal and the new car were certainly great. I'm not going to lie... I love my new Subaru. But the leadership and professionalism were just as great.
