SCAM AND RIPOFF BEWARE I purchased the vehicle (2013 Chevy Malibu) on 12/18/14 and 3 days later while driving on the interstate I noticed that as I would turn on my turning I purchased the vehicle (2013 Chevy Malibu) on 12/18/14 and 3 days later while driving on the interstate I noticed that as I would turn on my turning signal the touchscreen (radio and navigation) would go blank including the whole middle counsel. I repeated turning on my signal several times and it did the same thing. I contacted the family motors and spoke to Stephanie to schedule a tech to look at it and was told that “there are no recalls on this vehicle and called a liar.” Thereafter, I called the complaints hot line to speak with John Malaspina (757-431-6594) and was instructed to contact Juan Lewis (757-724-4999). Upon speaking to Jaun he was very aggressive in his tone and became frustrated with me and instructed me that I could return the vehicle and receive my down payment back of 1,000 because the finance company had not released the check to them and it was their vehicle still. Upon hanging up Jaun told me that I needed to contact Charles the store manager at the Kempsville location (757-479-3500) to inform him and the agent about the situation because he could no longer assist me. I did as he asked and contacted Charles only to be verbally abused some more and told by him that“I am driving right now can I call you back and was hung up on.” As the frustration continued to build I decided to contact the finance company who initially approved me for the loan and it was Carolina Finance in Norfolk, VA and upon contacting them I was spoken to kind manner and directed to Keith Sumrell (manager) at 757-366-0503. Mr. Sumrell was very kind and empathetic about my situation and informed me that he had not “cut” the check because he wanted to ensure that this matter was settled. Mr. Sumrell stated that if Family Motors was willing to exchange the vehicle to something that was equal in value and similar, that he would not have a problem with financing the exchanged vehicle as he agreed with me, that driving around in this current vehicle may be unsafe. I have children and I am afraid to drive them in this car. The customer service at Family motors was very disappointing and unprofessional. I was being attacked by management and other sales associates and constantly told that there is “nothing wrong with the vehicle.” I just want to warn people that are considering buying from this dealer, DO NOT DO IT, IT IS A SCAM AND THEY WILL CHANGE THEIR WORDS AND PROMISISES. All I want from them is a refund of my down payment and they can have the car. I have consulted a lawyer and he has reviewed my case and is willing to assist me with settling this matter. Please beware of this dealership. More
We are just starting the buying process and it looks like we are going to order a vehicle, I wanted write this review as our experience progresses. Initially, a few weeks ago, we drove up to RK to look at the Tahoe and Suburban to compare to ford. A salesperson was standing there, older gentleman, short and thin who reminded me of the stereo type car salesman. We had to approach him and my wife asked one question and got one answer, then he walked away. Clearly we were unwanted at RK. Last weekend we stopped by on a fluke, immediatly Tracy came up to us, greated us in a friendly manner and immediatly began to answer our questions. Tracy showed us an LTZ Suburban, and we test drove it. We told Tracy we were on a time constraint and he was certain not to drag anything out so that we could make our meeting. We intend on going back for another test drive and talk about ordering a 2015 Suburban, if they can come up with a good price than we will have something to talk about. We look forward to dealing with Tracy and want to thank him. As to the other individual that never gave us his name or time of day, we recommend that you send him packing, if it wasn't for the time constraint and convience that brought us to Tracy, based on our first experience we would have never come back to RK. Thank you Tracy. Hope this all works out. I cannot completely rate this dealership but I will in the future. More
I was having problems with the harmonic balancer on my 2005 Corvette and I brought it in to their Service Department and I've used several service departments across the Commonwealth and country and I mus 2005 Corvette and I brought it in to their Service Department and I've used several service departments across the Commonwealth and country and I must admit that Jim's attention to detail and concern for my car and me was unparalleled. Their service department is among the best I've seen, the shop foreman was so concerned about a possible problem with my Corvette and me saving money that he personally explained the situation so that I was able to make an informed decision. I am a member of the premier Corvette Club in the Tidewater area and I will most certainly pass my experience on to my members with my strongest recommendations. Thanks. More
They were fabulous. They said they were going to make it possible for us to get the car and they did. Our credit was not the greatest, but they worked very hard for us. I've seen RK on TV all the time. My nephew saw the car there and told me about it. He has bought cars there before. On a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give them a 9! This is the second brand new car that I bought from RK and I definitely would go back if I ever need another car. I went to Priority they treated me like I wasn't very important to them. RK was the third dealership that I went to and there is no comparison. Tracey was very helpful and moved the process along at a good rate. At RK I was treated with respect. They treated me as a customer who was buying a car and might come back and buy another. My experience with the finance department was good too. I love my new Cruze, it's a wonderful car and I would buy it again in a minute. Great experience. More

We love the car, I put one tank of gas in, in the last 1 1/2 months. We charge it at night and it is always ready to go! More
My husband was driving by RK and he saw the truck on the lot. He drove in and talked with a sales woman about the truck. Then, the two of us came back the next day and bought it. She was great. We got a good deal on our trade in. She made everything uncomplicated. They got us a better deal with one of their finance companies than we got from our credit union. We were completely surprised by that. It was a good experience. It was the best car buying experience we ever had. The night we bought the truck, we took the truck for a test drive, went out to dinner, signed some papers that were already made out, and drove the truck home. How's that for easy! More
