BAIT AND SWITCH SCAM CHECK KBB THEY OVERPRICE THEIR CARS!! BAIT AND SWITCH AND OVERPRICED DAMAGED VEHICLES!!! So like any guy, I was browsing for a new car and sought out the 2011 BMW 535I since I needed a BAIT AND SWITCH AND OVERPRICED DAMAGED VEHICLES!!! So like any guy, I was browsing for a new car and sought out the 2011 BMW 535I since I needed a flashy car for work/clients and that year will save $$. I saw Public Motors vehicle listed and how they work with people with troubled credit. I took the initiative to call and spoke to Airy who was reassuring that they can work with me. Since I am rebuilding my credit I know everything that is on there and made it clear I have a repossession from 2008 that is set to fall off in January, my score of 604 and how I have two credit cards I pay on to rebuild my scores despite major life threatening operations in 2011-2013 added up to medical collections, I was crystal clear on this. I also went over my income which is w2 wages and she was VERY reassuring for me to come down. Since I am a single Father of a 7 month old, my time is valuable. I again took the initiative to take the step further and submit an application for this vehicle remotely. Within 20 minutes I received a call from Airy confirming the approval on the 2011 BMW 535I. I was surprised and she even confirmed my down payment of $1,000 would work. Since my son and I had Disneyland plans I couldn't make it on Saturday, even though Airy pressured me to come in. I explained Sunday would be better after church with my final class ending at 4:30PM. Even with that explanation she continued to call me and email me stating the banks need me in within 3 days or else my approval expires. Because of this I changed all of my plans because there is no way I can make it on Monday due to work, so there I came straight from Church to pick up this car I have waited almost 7 years to get since my 2008 mistake (which resulted from a Texas tow company towing and holding car hostage until I pay their outrageous fees, I washed my hands with it and so did wachovia, they let the tow company keep it) Bottom line, I went through EVERY measure to ensure time is spent wisely without any misconceptions, misunderstandings and disappointments. To my arrival with my son strapped to me like a life vest I took a look at the car I wanted. Upon entering the vehicle it smelled of stagnant water, or almost like it was still airing out of some sort, the salesman told me this is the smell of REAL leather. Without making an issue out of it I explored different vehicles and met the GM named Juan and he informed me that I can't qualify for any of his luxury vehicles, I can only qualify for a 6k-8k vehicle with a $2,000 down payment. Just to be clear, I was already approved for the 2011 BMW 535I with a $1,000 down payment on a $28,000 loan, and now after all of my plans here is this guy telling me without any delay that is NOT the case. After my explanation of his representative Airy he continued to say, "well you know you have bad credit right?" Yeah, no kidding genius, I am the guy who was upfront from the beginning, I also let you run my credit and build my expectations up after I thoroughly explained how my time is valuable. My son can feel my frustrations, and started getting fussy. I then explained how their company hires deceiving people and that is BAD business and not the way to serve working Americans. I even told Airy I have no problem waiting another 6 months but NO, I was approved right NOW! I was livid like any busy single Father would be because this RUINED my weekend and the only free time of the day I had left. I was then stopped by another MANAGER, I told him to read my review, He offered to buy me dinner to avoid posting a bad and well EARNED review and I said "the moment character comes at the price of dinner is the day character doesn't exist" He reassured me they would handle this situation and email me and guess what? No email, no solution, liars is what they are.I gave them a valid opportunity to make this better and their TRUE colors showed like the blood dripping from the teeth of fed vampires. Don't believe the reviews, some of the cars smell like water damage and their responses are those of con artists. Use kelly blue book and see their inflated prices, this company needs to be reported and I will work with others who have been scammed to bring this to light. DO NOT BE FOOLED, I am disgusted thinking of the people they rip off, women, elderly etc. This is very disturbing, please buy somewhere else. Car sales people get a bad wrap from companies like this. This is the kind of dealership the media should investigate. More people need to come together against companies that are out to fool a buyer. Read the negative reviews and see how their fake reviews glow all over google. Yelp has better ways of hiding fake reviews, even though they can't stop the "bribed" ones on actual profiles. They will offer free services to post a positive review before you even leave the dealership. The car industry was JUST getting back to a professional industry until I encountered PUBLIC MOTORS!! Got A Great Deal and No Hassle Buying Experience! I searched online for the perfect car. After Going from Used Car Dealer to New Car Dealer I came across Public Motors. I was skeptical at first, but e I searched online for the perfect car. After Going from Used Car Dealer to New Car Dealer I came across Public Motors. I was skeptical at first, but ended with a really great deal from their Live Auto Auction they have every Sunday. I was going to wait for Wednesday's Live Auction but couldn't make in time. I never been to a live auction before, so it was fun and exciting. I found a nice BMW for super cheap, just got the car so no issues, runs great, I even purchased the warranty which was great since most auction places don't offer any kind of warranty. The staff we're friendly and nice. They gave me no pressure and explained the auction process to me. I even got to ring the auction bell after I won the bidding. Overall I'm happy with my new car and would recommend to my family or friends. Thank You Public Motors! More

The fi Do your research! Find a winner! (Ask for Juan) I had to come to this location twice which is fine because I am an Orange County resident. The first time, I was prepared and had researched at least 3 cars that were in my price range and looked really clean. One of the first steps was choosing between a higher priced newer model versus a very competitively priced model that looked great but had a special engine. I got to the dealership and the first (and last) person I was helped by was Juan. Juan was great. He related to my taste and personality right away and showed me a lot of great cars. Juan is a stand up guy and was very honest with me. Again, I needed to do my own research on the types of engines in the cars (Super Ultra Low Emission, etc.) so Juan wasn't exactly as up to speed as I was. I was able to determine ahead of time estimated costs for common repair costs and factored that into my decision. Came back with my dad and a flashlight the second day so we could really get under the hood and we found that they had replaced a lot of the rubber tubing and the engine was very clean. The interior was immaculate. Checked things like the breaks and oil levels/color. The only mistake on my part was failing to notice the fuse is out for the cigarette lighter (easy fix no big deal). The other easy fix I had was replacing a couple of blinker lamps due to cracked plastic. They provided me a very full carfax report so I was certain the car's engine and body was in great condition. I ended up picking the cheaper car and after tax (which exists regardless of the dealership - 5% price of car), standard maintenance fee ($299 bucks), smog certification (85 bucks). I must say, I love this payment format. It allows you to pick the price, but you have a "buy it now" price which allows you to skip the whole auction bid part. Go at/around noon to give yourself some time to make a good decision. I also picked up sick coverage which allows me to take my car to my dealership and get a ton of repairs for the cost of my coverage which is like 180 a month. Again, ask for Juan...he'll know what you're looking for. More
I had to go to the BBB to get my complaint resolved, which it isn't completely. Case # 20034567 Los Angeles BBB Basically I agree with all of these negative reviews, they are liars, they hold money which it isn't completely. Case # 20034567 Los Angeles BBB Basically I agree with all of these negative reviews, they are liars, they hold money needed to be refunded for not good reason (which is why I had to involve the BBB), they sweet talk you then stab you in the back. By the way, the BBB got them to give me my refund the day Public Motors received something from them, so if you are having issue, I strongly recommend you contacting the BBB to get it resolved. I bought a car mid-April. My issue had to do with the autogap insurance which I was lied to about and told that the bank financing our car was requiring it. It was a $895 fee!!!!, which I found out later, the finance people working at the dealership make the profit from selling this Auto-gap policy. I was told I had 30 days to cancel and the money would be refunded within 90 days. I figured out the very next day after buying the car that we did not have to have this and complained and tried to cancel it. A 109 days later and only because I contacted the BBB did I actually get my refund. Sally, the customer service manager, curtly told me, after I found out this was an in house problem (refunding the money) as the contact was never submitted to the company that process the contracts and I was wondering why it wasn't expedited any since they lied to me about it, that "any refund takes 90 days". This outraged me because she was wrong - the cancellation form states, "MAY TAKE UP TO 90 days", which implies it could be sooner. But it definitely doesn't say, "90 days or until our accounting department gets around to it!!" -- seeing as it ended up being 109 days! And there is something wrong with signing a contract (the Autogap contract) that states that a customer should receive a refund in 60 days, but then Public Motors choose to make it 90. I was also upset that I had to pay interest on this $895 for 4 1/2 months, so BK the general manager told me (and apparently Sally had never told him I had any type of complaint until this point 4 months later) that they would refund me the $16.20 in interest and give me a free tank of gas or refund me an oil change as an apology. I closed my complaint with the BBB because Public motors had refunded the Auto-Gap and *was going to pay me* the interest I accrued on my account which I had asked for from them (and give me a tank of gas as an apology, which I didn't ask for). So therefore I was going to be satisfied. However, when I submitted my tank of gas for a refund (which they were going to pay me for with the interest I was promised) they are telling me now that they will not pay me unless I sign something with them which says, among other things, "I, my name, purchased a vehicle from Public Motors, had a dispute and Public Motors resolved it. I am very satisfied with the way Public Motors handled the transaction. I agree not to discuss this settlement or to slander or disparage Public Motors at any time, either verbally or in writing, or by any communication on the internet." I refuse to sign anything that say that as I am "very satisfied with they way Public Motors handled the transaction" - a matter that is only semi-resolved and only because I involved the BBB. And I do not want to remove anything I have written about this company because it's truth (not slander or disparaging) and others should know what they did by having a record of it on the BBB or other places that asks for reviews of the company. I am very sure I am not the only one who this has happened to - others just probably never questioned the extra cost or thought it was necessary as well. As a result of signing the form they sent me I would have to agree to remove the google review that I did on their company as well as this complaint. So the way I look at it, they told me they would pay me the $16 and offered me a tank of gas, not as an apology, but rather as a way to shut me up. When I wrote and asked Sally about it, saying that no one told me at any point that I would need to sign something like this, she told me it was a generic form they use as a settlement agreement. If that is the case, they should have told me I was going to have to sign something like that, but 2 phone calls from the general manager and several emails back and forth with the customer service manager and no one said a word. I asked her to have BK, the general manager, call me to discuss this further. That was a week ago and no one has called me to discuss this. I can only conclude that they do not want to completely fix this situation of my husband and I being lied to by several people in their company, most directly the finance manager. That is very poor customer service on their part. Read carefully all these reviews listed here and don't buy a car from here!! More
I would give this scam operation no stars if it were an option. They flat out lie and then verbally abuse you if you do not buy a car from them. Their cars are seriously overpriced and their model seems to option. They flat out lie and then verbally abuse you if you do not buy a car from them. Their cars are seriously overpriced and their model seems to be bait and switch. You will not find any cars on their website actually on their lot. Oh, and MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR DRIVERS LICENSE BACK from the sales guy. I was so upset over the verbal abuse - plus I actually had to yank my hand out of his when I was trying to leave, he was holding on to it continuing to harangue me - I fled the office without getting my license. Despite the fact I was there for an hour and he never voluntarily gave it back to me - nor did they even attempt to call me all day while they still had it. I suspect this is one of their "sales" tactics. So I had to return to get it. They refused to mail it to me. STAY AWAY from them. More

I purchased my car in March of this year. I was treated fairly and with great care. This was my first purchase at Public Motors and I have recommended other people there as well. I purchased a 2002 VW Jett fairly and with great care. This was my first purchase at Public Motors and I have recommended other people there as well. I purchased a 2002 VW Jetta with 88,000 miles on it and the price was very reasonable. I did not go to the "Official Auction" but rather, a day during the week when I could take my time and really look around for a good used vehicle. Every little thing that needed to be fixed on my car was taken care of and I was quite pleased when I went to pick it up. I should also note...even though the small fixes took some time, they gladly gave me a loaner to use in the interim. More
These people are LIARS! We drove from Big Bear for a car that they said WAS there I called 3xs before arriving. Each time they said yes the car "is here." I GET THERE AND THEY said it just sold, another sal that they said WAS there I called 3xs before arriving. Each time they said yes the car "is here." I GET THERE AND THEY said it just sold, another sales person says "outside".. that it sold a week prior, but he could help! What..get the car back here? 1. They DO NOT have a CARFAX report. they show you a "fake" carfax. (the one on one of the cars was different than the one Alex printed. 2. They advertise 275 -300 cars on their web site, NOT EVEN close, try 58 cars on the lot WE COUNTED! 3. Cars smell like garbage, smoke and animals. Cars are very nasty, two wouldn't start to test drive. 4. I asked about fees, was told two different answers, the real answer is that they have "auction" fees, the cars are over priced and they LIE about a live auction on Weds. night 7p( we got there at 630p-730p NO AUCTION) We asked when does the auction start, one of the reps smiled and said "this is an auction, we are taking silent bids, what are you looking for?" WHAT AN INSULT, IM LOOKING FOR THE LIVE AUCTION YOU KEEP CALLING ME ABOUT!! No one would get the owner, I was told he was standing there LOOKING AT US, when we walked toward him..HE WALKED AWAY FAST. A rep named BK walked up and apologized about the car not being there. A buyer was there yelling for a refund, his car broke down and no one called him back for weeks..Whew, we MADE IT OUT of there. As we were leaving an ignorant poorly dressed, uneducated "ghetto" lady smoking outside says.."sorry baby, but we got more on the other side." WTH is she talking about! Horrible place, READ, READ, READ all reviews and save your gas, money and time! They spend a lot of energy trying to con you from the first phone call, WARN EVERYONE! Oh, THE PRICE ON AUTO TRADER IS NOT THE SALE PRICE...IT's BAIT! RUN, RUN, RUN! THIS IS THE WORST PLACE and we will warn others! More
