Unbelievable. In a good way! That’s the word that best describes the sales management team at Progressive Chevrolet. Last night I saw a commercial from them adver In a good way! That’s the word that best describes the sales management team at Progressive Chevrolet. Last night I saw a commercial from them advertising $5000 for any trade on any certified used vehicle. I went to the website and checked inventory to see if they had anything of interest and found a 2019 GMC Acadia. Low mileage, low price, good shape, so I signed up. Next morning started with a text message from a sales rep and after a couple preliminary questions, I decided I would take a drive, one and a half hours away, to buy a car. I also needed a couple additional hours to clear out the work van that I was trading, so I decided to forfeit a day’s pay from work. I asked pointed questions and was reassured by text message that the car was still available and that I would be getting $5000 for my trade which was worth about 1/10th of that, scrap metal and a new set of tires. Upon arriving there were a number of things that raised flags, starting with that the person who came to help me was different from who I had been communicating with. He then proceeded to go through the checklist for trading in a vehicle, and in the back of my mind I was wondering why he was going through all that when he was going to give me $5000 and scrap the van anyway. Flag #2. He went out to bring up the Acadia and I caught him as he parked it outside the showroom, and asked straight up if I was getting the $5K for the van. His response was that that program was only on ‘certified’ vehicles and the Acadia was not one of them. I said it was last night and then showed him the text from his associate that confirmed it. Flag #3. A short debate and he went to get his manager. A longer debate intertwined with his possibly convincing argument and I decided this was all the old bait and switch game and a waste of time, time that I really could not afford to waste. The manager realizing my frustration, offered to fill up my gas tank and instructed the salesman to accompany me to do so, and afterwards headed out. I got about halfway home, maybe 45 minutes out, with thoughts of false advertising, my lawyer daughter, and the state attorney general rumbling through the front of my head, while the financial loss for the day lingered in the back, I get a call from the head manager of the sales department, who said they had looked further into the problem and discovered that it was a typing error by a third party unassociated with the dealership that produced the “Certified” heading. I thought he was simply calling to provide additional explanation and leave it at that. I answered that I lost a days’ work, did all my due diligence so I wouldn’t get into this situation and here we were. Surprisingly, he asked me what I would like to see, to have this resolved. My response was that I came down there completely prepared to buy a car, at the advertised price and get $5K for my trade. He responded by offering $3500. That got my interest and after a little back and forth, agreed on a slightly higher number, compensating me for the new tires that I wanted to replace with junk before I turned the van over, and that barring anything detrimental on the Acadia, we had a deal. I continued home thinking I would go back Monday to close the deal because we had dinner plans with another couple that evening. As we were walking into the restaurant, my phone rings. I answer It and to my surprise, it’s the general manager again. My first thought was that they were backing out of the agreement. He started, “We have been talking about this situation with the owners, trying to sort out what happened as far as the misrepresentation in the advertising and they decided to offer the entire $5000 as advertised.” Wait; What??? Say that again! So he did. I couldn’t believe it. I stammered my way, dumbfounded, through the rest of the conversation and assured him that I would be back the next day, which I did, completed the deal, picked up my Acadia, and as an unexpected bonus, got several free oil changes and warranty stuff unexpectedly. Unfortunately, I couldn’t use the oil changes because it doesn’t make sense to drive three hours for that. So for anybody that might be thinking that all car dealers are the same and routinely practice bait and switch tactics, I can unequivocally state that PROGRESSIVE CHEVY is not one of those. Also, a little preemptive preparation doesn’t hurt. More
Adding up to $10k on top of MSRP due to supply situation tells me they don't care about their customers. Taking advantage of your customers is not a good look. tells me they don't care about their customers. Taking advantage of your customers is not a good look. More
Worked with Kelly Emch for an inquiry of their 2019 Silverado. This salesperson was not helpful at all. I’m an out of state buyer and wanted to see pictures of the undercarriage for rust. She stated th Silverado. This salesperson was not helpful at all. I’m an out of state buyer and wanted to see pictures of the undercarriage for rust. She stated that it goes through 110 point inspection etc and would cost the dealership money to get me those pictures. She then said she spoke to a manager about my request and he/she warranted that it was not necessary. Are you kidding me!? It was a simple request to send me pictures of the undercarriage and this couldn’t be done. What a joke of customer service and I can see why they have low ratings. They’re not helpful at all and Kelly is horrible at her job. What a mess! More
I visited with Progressive Chervrolet with interest in a vehicle listed as Certified Pre Owned on the dealership website. Along with the listing was an offer for $5,000 for any trade in with the purchase o vehicle listed as Certified Pre Owned on the dealership website. Along with the listing was an offer for $5,000 for any trade in with the purchase of a certified pre owned vehicle. When I arrived the vehicle was still advertised as such, was in stock, and the most recent entry on the car fax stated "offered for sale as certified pre owned." However the dealership refused to sell the vehicle as advertised and give the trade in price, stating there was a "glitch" made by their IT department. Although the website and the carfax both list it as certified pre owned the dealer would not sell it that way. In fact today (over 24 hours later) the vehicle is still currently advertised as certified pre-owned on the website. This is, by definition, false advertisement. I don't have time to search advertisements and then research the claims to see if they might actually be computer glitches. As a result I strongly encourage everyone to distrust anything advertised by this dealership. At best, this is a simple demonstration of incompetence - at worst, this is bait and switch false advertisement. More
I recently purchased a vehicle here and was ready to pay cash in full, but the salesman wanted to finance. I said I could either right a personal check, he said he would not accept, so I said I would get a cash in full, but the salesman wanted to finance. I said I could either right a personal check, he said he would not accept, so I said I would get a Bank check, again he wanted to finance. So now I have to pay through a bank with fees totaling almost $4700 on top of the principle. I did NOT to finance because I had the cash to pay and did NOT want to go through a bank and have payments. I will NEVER purchase from Progressive Chevrolet again and will tell anyone interested in buy a vehicle to go elsewhere. And I will be filing a complaint with the BBB. This is total BS for a dealership to this to a customer. More
Most unprofessional dealership I've ever seen. After building a truck on the GM website Progressive Chevrolet had my perfect match. After speaking with them and many text's later I thought we had a deal building a truck on the GM website Progressive Chevrolet had my perfect match. After speaking with them and many text's later I thought we had a deal. I drove an hour and a half to get my dream truck. Upon arrival they gave me some Ridiculous low ball offer for my trade and would not honor my well earned GM discount. That being said I would advise everyone to take your hard earned money somewhere else. More

After building a truck through the GM family and friends discount website I found the perfect truck match at Progressive Chevrolet. I began the process on their website showing interest to purchase the vehi discount website I found the perfect truck match at Progressive Chevrolet. I began the process on their website showing interest to purchase the vehicle and the dealership called me soon after. Lisa (lead manager) whom I spoke to on the phone had me sold, I just had one very very important question, do you accept the family and friends GM discount? The reply was yes but only if you bring in a vehicle to trade. I said I do but it’s not the nicest vehicle in the world. I sold my truck I had prior to my deployment overseas and bought a Spark. Anyways long story short I don’t make an appointment and I receive a phone call a few days later asking me if I was still interested again I said yes and that I would call back if I was. Stared at my dream truck online a few moments later and called Lisa back to tell her I will be in to purchase the truck and I asked that very important question once again “do you accept the GM family and friends discount?” “Yes we do with a vehicle trade in”. I drive 2 and half hours later and was greeted by a sales associate who sat me down who by the way was very friendly. All is going well until I see what my final price was going to be with no family discount applied, the trade in offer was low which I expected. She went and asked her GM manager twice about the discount. She bought him back the third time and stated we don’t offer the GM family and friends discount unless you give us a nice worthy vehicle to trade in. PLEASE TELL YOUR FUTURE POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS THAT KEY DETAIL SO THEY DONT WASTE THEIR TIME. More
