Bait and switch or just inconsiderate: you decide. We called about a used car listed on their website. After verifying that the car was still available, we submitted a credit application and was pre We called about a used car listed on their website. Because we live 2 hours away, we called again to ensure that everything was fine before making the trip. I also explain that my wife was not feeling her best and we didn't want to make the trip if we could not get the car. The sales person assured us that we could leave with the car that day. When we arrived, after waiting for 20 min, the salesperson stated that he had some good news and some bad news. He said "The good news is that we have the car but the bad news is that we are not selling it because it needs 4 thousand dollars worth of work done on it. I wasn't sure at first if he was joking or if he was ignorant. He wasn't joking. He then wanted us to look at another car several thousand dollars more than the car we were suppose to purchase. I spoke with a sales manager. He apologize but he said "this type of thing happens all the time." Whether bait and switch or the sales person was too lazy to actually verify if the car that was advertised was still selling, it was a waste of my time, I will never go to Principle Toyota Memphis again. More
