The techs @ Portland Volvo are rewarded for drumming up fictional repairs. Never again for sales or service. Beware! Don't walk away. Run away now! More
I went in and purchased a new Volvo XC90 in less than 3 hours, paid cash and drove it home that day. I'd say I was an easy customer! Shortly after I experienced computer issues. (Great service!). The problem returned with additional computer issues. ( Actually going back for the 4th time next week) I decided to call Portland Volvo, I called the service department 2 days in a row, no answer! I decided to call the salesman, I just wanted to know if this was a common problem with this particular model. I left 2 messages for the salesman, no response. I called the Sales Manager, had a great conversation with him. He actually told me to bring the car for service at Lovering Volvo because they have great reputation and are closer to me. He assured me he would check with his service staff and get back to me. That didn't happen! I called and left him voice mail and still no return call. Customer service at its worse! I am sorry there is not an option to give zero stars, but I had to choose 1 star. More
Called to replace blower motor in old volvo. We told them another mechanic diagnosed the problem, but didnt have part. They asked us for VIN number to order part. Show up to appointment the next week. 2.5 hours into appointment they have not completed work. They don't have the blower motor and have been doing a diagnostic. We ask them to finish because they say its going to be another 2 hours to complete diagnostic ( unbelievable )... Mechanic can't read the error codes on the dash ( unreal).... At this point my wife has waited 3.5 hours before car is ready. There has been no work done. It takes less than 15 minutes to open dash.... Not that we needed it because you know we already disclosed it had been done by another mechanic. They hit her with 289 dollar bill. When I found out I spoke to Kristen Adams. Disappointed with the lack of responsibility and just bad talking points. I asked Kristen if she disclosed the 179 dollar diagnostic charge and her response was its written on the door. A bunch of bad positioning on her part about how her people are top of the line mechanics , and they pay all this money for a certification every year... which is ironic given this context... pay a bunch of money to basically strong arm someone... They also charged us 89 dollars to say the joint is rusted and sway arm is bent... Anyway here is the cake, today we are missing the Apple adapter that is used to charge my wife phone. It is just missing from the car. Overall Failure- Didnt order part. Didnt listen to customer about already having problem diagnosed. Didn't complete any actual work of value. Had problem with your own system so really didn't even diagnose anything. Waited 2.5 hours after appointment start time. Waited another 1.25 hours to get car after telling them we didnt want to wait another 2+ hours to continue diagnostic. Didn't disclose diagnostic charge, talking point was its on the door. Justification for diagnostic was lackluster and full of fallacies. Missing Apple charger from car... Hung up after asking for owner. Maybe the team needs time off or training. Or maybe this is normal practice against an unsuspecting woman. Who the hells knows... You can't make this stuff up.. No resolution. Asked for refund.. More
Wonderful service! We were driving up from Rhode. Island to Sunday River in a sleet storm. our Volvo xc90 is new and it started to shake violently. We were very scared since there were cars slipping off the road and a 18wheeler jack-knifed into another car. We called the Portland Volvo dealership, they calmly explained that we just had snow stuck in our wheel well and to come right in. we arrived at a stunningly beautiful service station, the waiting area was very comfortable with snacks, coffee ,, hot chocolate and a sweetest people to help. While most business were closed this shop was brimming with staff.The wheels were power washed and that fixed the shaking, plus they washed the whole car and topped of. the. wiper fluid at no cost.It was incredibly stressful drive but now knowing the team at the Portland Volvo dealership will always be open just confirms our decision to buy more volvos in the future! More

Fantastic service for out-of-staters! Our family was driving from Connecticut to Maine when our 2011 XC90 started making a funny sound. At the halfway point, we called Portland Volvo to ask if maybe they could take a look. This was Friday at around 3 pm. Lisa from the Service Dept. answered the phone and was extremely professional and sweet, but informed us there were no open spots that day. She suggested we leave the car overnight and maybe someone would get to it on Saturday. She even suggested a rental car dealership nearby. Nervous that we were going to do more damage if we tried to drive it home to get it looked at, we followed her advice and were surprise when she called early on Saturday to tell us that they squeezed our car in, and discovered the problem (I believe Walt was the technician who made the time for for our ER car visit. He could have gone for an extra long coffee break instead, so we appreciate it.) Lisa had all our paperwork taken care of when we arrived for pick up (just as they were closing), there was no push for extra work, and we drove away relieved and grateful. Portland Volvo saved our short weekend vacation and treated us Flatlanders just as kindly and respectfully as I'm sure they do their regular customers. Highly recommend. More

For the last sixteen years,I have been having my Volvo SWs serviced at Portland Volvo. The Service department at Portland Volvo does a wonderful job of taking care of my car. I would not take my car to another service department. In particular, I like working with Bryan Woodworth, who is great at explaining the sorts of maintenance work needed, and setting up the work for a time that fits into my schedule. Bryan takes care of customers. I so appreciate his professionalism. More
