I was welcomed by Kate and a very friendly staff at Portland Volvo. I looked a few preowned, drove one and liked it. I went home to ponder buying it, when I started crunching numbers and looking at all the incentives Volvo was offering it seemed to make sense to buy new. So I went back over and looked at the same model but brand new, Kate and Tom, the a sales manager made me a great offer on my trade in and a new car. I was a little uncomfortable with the size of the car both inside and out. When I mentioned to them that I was unsure and that buying new was not imperative they came up with some great options of preowned in a different model and in my price range. We made a deal in less then a half hour. I assume it would have behooved them both to sell me a new car over a preowned but I never felt any pressure from either of them. It was evident that my being happy and comfortable was of the utmost concern to them.I will from here on out rely on Portland Volvo for all my Volvo needs. More

While I didn't buy a Volvo this time, I traded in my 11 year old S70 and all of my service was done at Portland Volvo. A few months ago I went into Portland Volvo to check out leasing prices. At the time, the cars that were available were out of my budget, and I ended up leaving empty-handed. However, when things changed, I remembered how welcome Ralph made me feel the first time I went in, and so I went back. I am not the easiest customer to deal with.. I have four kids and very little time for small talk. Ralph moved at my pace and rolled with the punches with a smile on his face, (even when I had to nurse the baby in the waiting room..not always the most comfortable for other people, esp. men!). He made me completely at ease, as did the the Sales Manager. I ended up leaving with a beautiful used Volvo ,(that I can put all my kids in!), equipped with new brakes the whole way round! I love my car and I love the way that I didn't feel judged for not having a lot of cash to spend when I came in. Thanks a million Ralph! More

We had visited a few dealerships when looking for our XC90. We found what we were looking for on the Portland Volvo website and it prompted us to make an appt to visit them. We were greeted by an extremely friendly and helpful staff and felt comfortable immediately. The quality of the vehicle was superb, the facility was immaculate, the staff was so friendly - every single person said hello or picked up conversation with us. And, because we have young children, the fact that there is a room that is equipped with toys, juice boxes, etc. was so helpful. And everyone was so willing to assist us with them - in keeping them occupied, so that we could spend the appopriate amount of time looking at the vehicle etc. The girl Kate at the front desk spent a ton of time playng with our daughter. And Kate, our salesperson, was so nice and patient and helpful. We were thrilled. We had such a great experience. I would highly recommend this dealership and Kate MacDiarmid! More

I would highly recommend this dealership to any one who might be interested to purchasing either a new or used Volvo. The professionalism, attention to detail and making you feel as those they really wante might be interested to purchasing either a new or used Volvo. I had been looking for a Saab and had planned to travel to Boston to look at a few vehicles I had found on the internet. On my way to the Boston area, I decided to visit Kate MacDiarmid - a personal frien to Boston to look at a few vehicles I had found on the internet. On my way to the Boston area, I decided to visit Kate MacDiarmid - a personal friend - while in Portland. During my initial visit, she showed me around but as I was intent on buying a Saab I didn't pay too much attention to vehicles on the lot. Kate suggested I look at a vehicle at Portland Saab as it was in the general category that I was considering. It turned out that the vehicle at Portland Saab did not meet my criteria. Fortunately, Kate knew what I was looking for - as she had asked questions about why I was replacing my "old" vehicle, what I needed in my "new" vehicle, and what my price range was. She reminded me of a vehicle that we had looked at earlier - that I had passed over - that she knew met all of my criteria - even though I didn't! Fortunately I took her advice, drove the car, and after a short conversation with the sales manager - made a deal that I'm very happy with. I have purchased 2 used and 1 new Saab, all are/were 9.5's from this dealership. My daughter recently bought a used 9.3 as well. The buying experience in all cases was more than pleasant, and they were always competitive price wise. All used vehicles were bought as Certified, which I think is the best way to go in most cases, particulary for European makes. Two years ago I bought a new 9.5 Aero wagon (sorry, Sport-Combi) as low mileage used ones were hard to find. Love the car, trouble free. The service dept., for me, has been terrific. Even if it is something like a last minute oil change, as well as scheduled service, I generally get a nice loaner Saab, and the repairs/service is done right, the first time. They make a huge effort to fit me in when I call, and seem very concerned about my overall satisfaction. Matt,the service manager has bent over backwards to make me a happy camper,and I am. By way of comparison, I had two Certified Audi A-6's and an Infiniti Q-45 prior to the Saab's, and in both cases the sales and service departments were indifferent, at best. I'll never forget, my last A-6 needed a new drivers side windsheild wiper motor, and we were getting daily snow and ice, a storm was predicted for the weekend, so it was really not a good situation. Remember, this is in Maine. The service "team" guy assigned to my car said, and it was a Firday afternoon, "It will be two or three days" before they could get me a replacement windshield wiper motor. (Note: this was my second A-6 and third vehicle I had bought from this outfit, the other was a Mazda). I really felt like I was getting in the way of the "Customer Service" guys weekend plans. When I asked my service rep. what he would do if his driver side windshield motor conked out in the middle of Feb. he said, and this is almost verbatum, "I wouldn't know, I drive a GMC truck". I almost fell over. The Saab dealership was just up the street, I drove over to complain I guess, and they gave me a brand new loaner for THE WEEKEND, as a major storm was predicted. I left my crippled Audi with them for the weekdnd and that was the last time I drove her. As you can guess, although I did not buy that vehicle, it was a 9., I did end up buying a nice Certified 9.5. I will never go back to the Audi dealership. Ever. Great dealership, over the top service dept. and manager and I'll stick with these guys as long as they sell cars. JSM 2454 More
