We took our 2012 Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with 67k miles in for a recall fix. We had a small list of issues we also needed looked at. We disclosed the issues by importance to us as the guy jotted them down in for a recall fix. We had a small list of issues we also needed looked at. We disclosed the issues by importance to us as the guy jotted them down in his tablet. 1. Our “check coolant level” warning was continually popping on and our temp gage would instantly shoot up to 250 as soon as we’d start it even after sitting all night in Utah winter temps (20’s). 2. Our “Chassis system failure” warning is constantly on and our front suspension is stuck on sport while back is stuck in comfort. 3. Drivers side heated/cooling seat does not work. The button lights up but instantly turns back off. 4. Our drivers side mirror and back window were not defrosting. 5. Our speedometer is off about 6-8 miles. He repeated them all back to us in order and said no problem as if he’d seen all these issues before. They gave us a loaner and said they reach out with diagnostics. We heard back later that day with a written work up. They said out coolant was leaking under the intake manifold and all 8 seals were bad. They said they they would need to “remove the seat to further investigate” the heat/cool function. They said they “plugged back in” the defrost for the mirror and window and was fixed. They said they did a basic check as well and my brakes were good but we needed 2 new back tires. They charged $110 so far and wanted $3700 minimum (the seat fix wasn’t included in this cost) to fix the other issues. We know owning a Porsche is/can be expensive. We also didn’t hear a single word about our Chassis issue despite it being our second most important one. You can’t miss it since the second you turn the car on the beeping begins with the screen warning that doesn’t go away and doesn’t allow you to see/use the other screen functions. There’s no way they “missed” or “forgot” that issue. However, not a word about it. We also know that there isn’t a coolant leak as our coolant level hadn’t changed, even a drop since light began popping on and we’ve parked over a white sheet of cardboard to see any leaks. Not a drop. We also had a second opinion and all that was wrong was a bad sensor. They wanted $1,700 to fix something not broken. My defrost still doesn’t seem to be working properly despite being charged to fix it. Not only did they allow us to leave knowing that supposedly we had a coolant leak that could potentially blow up the engine if not fixed but our coolant level was supposedly low as well. If there were truly a leak and it was low, shouldn’t they have at a minimum stated that we can refuse the service and leave, but that it’s dangerous to the car and could cause sever damage if not repaired asap? They also messed with the chassis buttons because when we left the dealership the console Chassis buttons were now all blinking red/yellow constantly which hasn’t been an issue. It still hasn’t turned off. They didn’t mention a word about the issue or a fix for it, but they most definitely messed with the buttons. In my opinion, one of the kids who moves cars around pushed the buttons and couldn’t get to turn off and they didn’t want to be responsible so they just wiped that issue off the list as if they never knew to even look at it (despite our verbal discussions about it, it was our 2nd priority item, and you can’t turn it on without beeping and a warning). We expected so much more from a dealership such as Porsche. We left feeling scammed just like any other dealership. We had also just had it detailed (and I keep it immaculate and dust it every day) shortly before taking it in and it had been newly washed by hand. It was impeccably clean. They said they “hand washed it” before giving it back but it came back dirtier than when we dropped it off 5 hours earlier. There were water spots all over it. They’re not different from any other scammy dealership. . We will never go back unless it’s a recall issue and we will get our work done somewhere else we can actually trust. Incredibly disappointed. Prior to actually picking up the vehicle, service was excellent and they could not do more for you. After driving it off the forecourt, it was a different story. I had a few issues which I tried to addre excellent and they could not do more for you. After driving it off the forecourt, it was a different story. I had a few issues which I tried to address, such as the new windscreen that was fitted, but this was sub standard and had a ton of imperfections in the glass. The wheels were refurbished prior to me taking ownership, which were included in the sale price. However, spraying over the old wheel weight glue is basically sloppy. I was told, "What do you expect for $500..?" Finally the lower front spoiler looked as if it had been sandblasted with pebbles which were not evident when I picked the car up, but after washing it, they came to light. It basically needs a respray, but it's not expensive I was told by the salesman when I notified him. To top it off, I was basically told that all the defects must have happened on my route home in the wind. Funny that the hood is nearly pristine but the spoiler and windscreen were effected? All told, I expected more from a Porsche dealership, but getting fobbed off by the salesman has almost forced me to writing this review. One very unhappy customer! More
I penned a general review of Porsche Salt Lake City this spring while waiting for Porsche factory to come through with a special "Build to Order" Macan S. It simply read: When there is no substitute, and with a Porsche there truly is no substitute, one must be patient waiting for delivery. I sat with Daniel Eastman at Porsche Salt Lake City late last year and configured a new 2022 Macan to replace an older SUV. Daniel is an excellent adviser and an expert in selecting options that will compliment each other. And with a vehicle from this dealership, you get a great service department which has been caring for my Porsche sports cars for over 7 years. I recommend them most highly. Since that time and still waiting, Daniel found and sold us a base Macan in Papaya, a uniquely attractive color and then after a few additional months, our special order "S" arrived. After a brief discussion, Daniel and I arranged to return the Base model and drive away in my wife's perfect Macan S. She loves this SUV built to her spec and we owe Daniel Eastman a huge thank you for making it happen! You rock Daniel! More
