My wife and I drove to Planet Subaru in Hanover and explained we felt the wiper motor had died. I was told there would be a $110.00 diagnostic charge. That seemed a little strange as I thought it was fairly obvious what the problem would be. ( I complained to the service writer, Nicky Moberg, twice that there was no reason for that charge and she disagreed.)This was on a Saturday and the part was unavailable , so it was determined the car would be ready probably by Tuesday. We were provided with a loaner car. However it was stated there would be a $35.00 charge for the rental. I called the dealership on Monday morning and spoke to Matt Ryan, Service Director, to complain about the diagnostic charge and loaner fee. Those charges were subsequently removed. On Tuesday the car was ready and my wife picked it up. It was raining again and as soon as she turned on the wipers a plastic shroud piece ( that fits in that spot near the windshield where leaves and snow collect) was loose and flipped up. As she was reentering the dealership to explain this an employee attempted to fix it in the parking lot. No luck. Car was brought back into the shop for 15 minutes and returned to her. Less than two miles from the dealership the part blew off on Route 53 in Hanover, MA. She retrieved the part. That night with me holding the flashlight in the rain she popped the part in and replaced it properly. This Wednesday morning I called the Service Director again( as it states on the bill they want you to inform them if you aren't completely comfortable with your service experience). During the call the Director, Matt Ryan, was somewhat defensive and stated that,"anyone can make a mistake". But three mistakes: 1. left plastic part unattached just below windshield. 2. He stated he was the one who tried to repair it in the parking lot 3. Part supposedly was attached during 15 minutes it was brought back into the shop. Bottom line- Can you imagine the kind of engine service you might be getting if they can't properly replace this 20 cent part with three tries ( don't they have a system to check their work). It's almost like changing your tire and not putting a lug nut back on the wheel. My wife replaced the part in less than a minute. Go figure. Time to look for a new dealership! More

A fantastic experience. Here's a summary if you don't want to read my novel: AMAZING EXPERIENCE, HONEST, NO PRESSURE, EXTREMELY FAIR PRICE, PUPPIES, FUN. I drove to Plane Here's a summary if you don't want to read my novel: AMAZING EXPERIENCE, HONEST, NO PRESSURE, EXTREMELY FAIR PRICE, PUPPIES, FUN. I drove to Planet Subaru thinking two things. 1) I wish I didn't have to get a new car (Mine was part of the VW TDI recall) and 2) I really don't want a Subaru. I had already test driven the VW Alltrack and loved it but made myself visit Subaru to at least compare it to another wagon option. The doors opened and I was immediately greeted. (This didn't happen at VW. My husband and I awkwardly stood in their lobby waiting for someone to acknowledge us). We met Scotty Forrester and he immediately offered us a coffee and brought us to sit down. On our walk to his desk we passed a puppy sitting by another desk as it's apparently okay to bring your dog to work at Planet (major bonus points). Scott was fantastic and took his time explaining the differences in models. He was never pushy, extremely knowledgeable and completely honest. He encouraged us to test drive both the 4 & 6 cylinder models and we were allowed to go without him lurking in the back seat. Upon return, I told him I was shocked with how much I loved the car but I would not be purchasing today. I wanted to wait for my refund check to be cleared by VW first. He was beyond understanding. Again, no pressure at all which I could not say the same at the end of my VW test drive. (VW even hounded me after our test drive with phone calls and emails and hinted that their "loyalty deal" would be expiring soon to get us to decide more quickly). Scott gave me a packet of information and a business card for another co-worker since it was his last day on the floor (He is now working as a Business Manager there). Scott actually brought us over to Joe Harris so that we could meet him and feel comfortable working with a new face upon our return. About three weeks later we turned up again ready to buy. Joe was right at the front desk and actually remembered us and the car we were interested in despite the fact that we spent less than three minutes with him weeks before. Impressive, right? Again, we were immediately seated (not far from the same puppy as before!) and offered a beverage. After we let slip that we had limited time (infant at home), Joe made the smoothest and quickest transaction imaginable. He's a Dad and totally understood. He listed a price that was beyond reasonable and we immediately accepted. This was a shock since my husband and I literally tried to strategize "bartering tactics" on our way to the dealership. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO! The price they offered was amazing. The rest of the transaction was just as painless. We actually got to know Joe well and it felt like we had been friends for years. We laughed. A lot. For a process that I dreaded, we were actually having fun. Jaime McGuinness continued this laid back approach that Planet seems to have. She helped close the deal and help figure out our finance options. Not once did I feel pressured or uneasy about the decisions that I was making. Overall, this was one of the most pleasant experiences I've had making a big purchase of any kind. I couldn't recommend the Planet dealership more. No one in my family or husband's family has ever owned a Subaru and I couldn't be happier with my decision and the location that I chose to purchase it from. Great people and a wonderful business. I knew what I wanted in a car and Planet Subaru delivered!! I was in the market for a new car lease and undecided as to what my final choice would be. The Subaru Impreza was at the top of my list , mainly beca I was in the market for a new car lease and undecided as to what my final choice would be. The Subaru Impreza was at the top of my list , mainly because of the all wheel drive option and the comments made by my friends about how reliable and safe the cars are. I went to Planet Subaru.and explained what I was looking for and what options I wanted. and that's exactly what I received. No pressure to buy a different vehicle or options that I really did not want. The car was ordered in the color and options I wanted. When my car arrived I was notified immediately and picked it up that very day. James Green was very clear in explaining everything to me prior to me signing the contract. Scott Forrester sat with me in the car and explained everything to me about the great features this vehicle offered. Off I went in my brand new car as happy as I could be. Everyone at that dealership was friendly and polite. The showroom is warm and inviting and I just love the dogs that you see when entering the front door. Matt Ryan was a saint in resolving my issue with the radio. He never doubted anything I explained to him. I would recommend this dealership to anyone who is looking for a car. I have been purchasing cars since 1970 and loved the fact that everyone treated me with respect and had full understanding of what I wanted in a car and NO PRESSURE. More

I went inside and approached a dealer and stated that I would like to take a look at the vehicle and test drive it . He brought me over to his desk and starts talking about trade in value and financing . I thought this was a little odd as I hadn't even seen the car yet but he claimed this was how they do it at that dealership . In hindsight I feel like he was profiling me . The dealer tells me how much my trade is worth after looking on Kelly blue book. He then walks off for about 30 seconds and comes back claiming he looked up the auction price and this is the most he will give me and it's non negotiable . I knew he was lying because he was having difficulties nagivating his computer when he was in front of me ( seemed computer illiterate ) yet when he walked away he was some how able to access the system much faster. When I mention to him that we could start negotiating the price of the car I'm buying, he tells me they don't negotiate selling prices and that the listed price is the selling price . He also mentions that the car is a buy back and will be sold with a lemon title . I pretended to not know what that meant . He claims it was a minor issue with a check engine light coming on . In reality if a car is a lemon title it has serious mechanical defects . At this point I've been there for about 10 minutes . I tell the dealer if we can't negotiate the selling price then I'll have to look elsewhere . He then stands up and ends the interaction. Very rude and arrogant . As a disabled combat veteran (OIF) and a former law enforcement officer I expect a certain amount of professionalism from a car dealer . This is the type of dealer that gives the car dealing business a bad name . 'My intention is to contact corporate office as I believe this dealer broke certain operating procedures set by Subaru corporate offices and at worst profiled me . More
Poor handling of complaint..UPDATE TO REVIEW I'd always gone to Planet Subaru for most of the service on my Outback, which had been purchased as as Certified Pre Owned vehicle from PS in '09. The I'd always gone to Planet Subaru for most of the service on my Outback, which had been purchased as as Certified Pre Owned vehicle from PS in '09. The last few times there I've had poor experiences and to this point, no one has done a thing other than apologize. The last straw was the rear brake job I went in for this past July. The techs there did the job but never hooked the emergency brake cable back. This is the 2nd time such a thing has happened there at PS. I had to trek back there from Quincy on a Friday afternoon in July (mired in an hour of Cape Cod weekend traffic) and was promised compensation from the Service Manager Matthew. Countless emails and almost 4 MONTHS LATER, I've received nothing but lip service. We love our Outback and planned on coming back next year to trade this one in on a newer model but will not be going back again based on the juvenile handling of my complaint. The Service Manager even acknowledged the issues from the past after researching this (which took weeks after my initial complain) but I've received NOTHING. If anyone in any Management role would bother to contact me, I'd be appreciative and frankly based on my experience with Matthew at this point, shocked if anyone bothered. ***UPDATE*** I did finally speak with the Service manager, who agreed to compensate me for the most recent issue as well as for the past issues. As a long standing customer and fan of PS, I was relieved that they finally agreed to do what I thought to be the right thing. More

The Un-dealership not for the reasons you'd expect I went to Planet Subaru because the Legacy I wanted was selling out in transit and this was the only dealership that had it. I filled out a request on I went to Planet Subaru because the Legacy I wanted was selling out in transit and this was the only dealership that had it. I filled out a request online and no one got back to me. So I filled out another one and talked to a woman named Deb who was nice. I made an appointment and Deb handed me off to a kid named Ryan. Thought it was odd, but whatever. Ryan was very nice and knowledgeable. They won't budge on price and undervalue your trade-in. I was ok with that because Subaru was offering a low incentive plan. So I drop a deposit and when I go to pick up my car, I have to deal with the haggling from finance. Even when I had a perfect credit score, the financial assistant gave me a loan from Rockland Credit at 1.99% (Not the 1.49% Subaru was offering). I should have run then. Also, their promotion for their "Passport Program" is going to cost you...........a lot. Their typical oil change runs you are $165 with a 30k tune up at $590. They won't tell you that in finance, though, in fact when I asked their financial person didn't know anything about the passport program. In short, if you want a new Subaru and this dealership is local to you, come with your own financial plan or apply via the Subaru site. If you want a specific car and it's only at that dealership - you could probably wait. More
