On Friday, 22 November 2019, I had an outstanding service interaction with Pine Belt that went far beyond the call of duty, and I am writing to commend the entire staff. I was in Lakewood, NJ, visiting fami interaction with Pine Belt that went far beyond the call of duty, and I am writing to commend the entire staff. I was in Lakewood, NJ, visiting family, far from my home in Brooklyn, and in no way an established customer. I presented my 2019 Forester, without an appointment, hoping the service department could solve a problem that had been plaguing and tormenting me since taking out the lease on the car. Triple chimes were sounding almost incessantly at highway speeds that made driving extremely stressful, bordering on the unsafe. I had tried every troubleshooting fix suggested by Subaru customer service, including doing a reset to factory defaults, toggling every component of the EyeSight system on and off etc. Etc., and nothing could make the annoying chimes cease. I was seriously considering terminating the lease, since no one in the Subaru loop had any fix for the problem. Service writer Tom Patanio kindly offered a service appointment for the following Monday. We had not been planning to stay in Lakewood that long. My wife and I started conferring about a change in plans when I mentioned that I had not brought enough medicine with me, including insulin, to tide me over for an extra day’s stay. Tom evidently picked up on that conversation (not surprisingly, since we were standing right at his desk) and with barely a second’s delay, said that he would squeeze us in right then and there. We needed to have a technician take the car out on the road to diagnose the problem, and it would be viewed as a service covered under warranty, at no charge. Out came Mr. Brendan Byron to take us for a drive in the car. This man was nothing short of a genius troubleshooter. Much to my relief, the problem was replicated and the rogue chiming kicked in. In a very short space of time, Brandan determined that the sounds were not generated by Subaru and were coming from a dashboard camera hanging from the windshield. In short order, he unplugged the dashcam power cord from the cigarette lighter and — lo and behold — the crazy chiming stopped dead in its tracks. Brendan thought totally out of the box and, worthy of Sherlock Holmes, turned his lens away from the car and onto an accessory item for which Subaru was actually not to blame. Later on, I was able to tweak the needed menu settings on the dahscam to make it stop chiming. But that is not the point. The troubleshooting breakthrough occurred when Brendan squeezed Subaru out of the loop and pointed to the rogue dashcam as the culprit. But my tale is not finished. I had actually taken the car several months earlier to a local dealer in Brooklyn, where I got a chilly reception because I had not leased the car from them. Their response was to offer a drive with a technician at a charge of $150 or so. No talk of warranty coverage or anything else customer-friendly. Not Pine Belt. They cheerfully fixed the problem, truly going the extra mile to accomodate my tight travel schedule and medicine supply. And the crowning touch came when Tom pointed out that since my problem was being caused by a non-Subaru accessory, it really should not have been covered by a Subaru warranty, but that Pine Belt did the troubleshooting as a courtesy. Subaru should be proud to have Pine Belt Subaru represent them. Thomas Patanio and Brendan Byron acted as heroes to me and my wife in a pinch and I would seriously consider returning to Lakewood for my next lease. Bravo to all, including sales manager Eric who was also most supportive David P. Rose, Brooklyn, NY More
Bill Carp has helped to turn Pine belt around! I bought my Subaru Forester at Pine Belt in Lakewood. I have had my car serviced exclusively at Pine Belt. I need to acknowledge the excellence of B I bought my Subaru Forester at Pine Belt in Lakewood. I have had my car serviced exclusively at Pine Belt. I need to acknowledge the excellence of Bill Carp, Subaru Service Manager. He understands Subaru. He cares about the customer and doesn't treat you as just another customer, he makes you feel as if you are the "only" customer. Bill has given me excellent service I have not experienced, unfortunately with others at this same service department which includes them forgetting twice to fix molding that was not attached to the drivers side door when I purchased the car (twice). He is the reason I will go back. He has made a tremendous difference for this service department at Pine Belt. I hope he gets recognized for what a positive difference he has made. I can say that because I have had other problems with this dealership and vowed never to buy another car there again. Thanks to Bill, I would and that's saying something. I seriously hope that the owners, managers and SUBARU recognize Bill as being the champion of the customer that he he is and acknowledge that he is a wonderful representative for Subaru and Pine Belt as well. Thank you Bill! Joseph Garippa, Point Pleasant, New Jersey More

I showed up an hour early for my next appointment and Anissa brought me right in. I was out the door by the time my appointment was supposed to start. I highly recommend Pine Belt, because the staff is knowledgeable, courteous and compassionate to the consumers. The facility is clean and the waiting room is comfortable and stocked with coffee, water and snacks. I didn’t purchase my 2019 Subaru Crosstrek at Pine Belt, but I wish I had. Thanks Pine Belt! More

Lengthy, gas missing, poor communication with customer My car was having problems starting so I took it to a dealership thinking that would be the best way to guarantee the problem would be solved. The fir My car was having problems starting so I took it to a dealership thinking that would be the best way to guarantee the problem would be solved. The first time I brought it there, they had the car for three days and ran diagnostics from which they found nothing wrong and did not recommend replacing any parts. When I got the car there was about 1/4 tank of gas missing from when I brought it. I don't know how much test driving is needed to make sure the car is functioning but this seems excessive. Took the car home and it immediately had trouble starting again. I brought it back since I did not want to pay another place to run the same diagnostics. They eventually replaced a sensor and said that would do it. This took another 8 days to complete. The center console was dirty when I picked it up (looked like the mechanic had grease on his arm when he rested it there). Throughout this whole process the service representative I was working with never called me with updates when he said he would so I had to continuously track him down. It is clear now why the subaru dealer the town over had a much longer waiting list to get a car checked. Will definitely wait the extra few days next time. More

The sales department is always gr I have been going o this dealer for a very long time ( over 10 years). I'm on my 3rd Subaru. Today was my last time. The sales department is always great. But, their service department really sucks. Every time I take my car there, something wrong comes out of the visit. After putting Synthetic oil since buying the car, they decided to put regular oil and charged my for the higher cost. After asking why it was done, the service person told me that I did not tell him of my choice of oil. When I made the appointment, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% Synthetic oil. Sad to say, both service people need to go. Their business will go down if they don't even try to fix their mistakes. More
