I had the misfortune of dealing with Pine Belt Nissan of Toms River on Friday, August 17, 2012. This review is quite lengthy but I am so disappointed in my experience, in particular with the general manager, Marc Stango, I have to share this with all prospective customers. I was interested in buying out my 2009 Pathfinder lease and transferring the title to my younger brother. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp advised me that any dealership could help me with the buyout. I live in MA but I grew up in NJ where my family still resides. My husband and I decided to drive the Pathfinder to NJ to handle the transaction there. It was the simplest way to transfer the car to my brother; or so we thought. We contacted several dealerships ahead of time to make sure we understood the process. We received some push back because a lease buyout is not the most lucrative opportunity for a dealer, yet it is their contractual obligation to NMAC. We finally spoke to one dealer who was willing to help: Pine Belt Nissan. We arrived at Pine Belt on Friday morning with all the appropriate paperwork and a check for the buyout. The general manager, Marc, had no idea what we were talking about. My husband was positive they had spoken on the phone and Marc agreed to help us. Marc left us in the showroom for a long time, trying to figure out whom we may have spoken to on his sales team. We soon realized that my husband, not being from the area, confused two Pine Belt dealerships: one in Toms River and the other in Keyport, NJ. When we explained this to Marc, we thought he would appreciate an honest mistake and proceed with the buyout process. We were very wrong. He adamantly denied being able to help us. Marc said that because we didn’t lease the car from his team, he would not be able to process the buyout. I explained to him that I have been a loyal Nissan customer for over 10 years and although this particular lease was not from Pine Belt in Toms River, I had purchased an Xterra from his very lot in the past. I also stressed that Nissan Corporation informed us that we could go through any dealership; it did not have to be the same one where the lease originated. He still would not budge. My husband called the other Pine Belt Nissan in Keyport and spoke to Rich, (the manager whom he spoke to initially). We thought Rich, a Nissan colleague, would be able to explain the situation to Marc. Again, Marc resisted. It came to the point where Marc and my husband were standing only inches away from each other in a heated argument in the showroom. Marc gave me such an attitude, saying that since his guys “weren’t making any money from this deal, they would not help us.” I was appalled! I appreciate Marc’s interest in making money. I understand that his team did not have an opportunity to get us in to a new lease, put my 2009 Pathfinder back in their inventory to mark up and sell as a used car, or upsell us some ridiculous extended warranty. At the same time, I expect a certain level of customer service, especially from a general manager, considering this was my fifth Nissan vehicle. Because of this poor excuse for a general manager and his ignorant sales team who actually had the nerve to say to me, “You look like you are going to kick someone’s *ss,” I must warn anyone and everyone to avoid Pine Belt Nissan in Toms River, NJ. Instead, head 45 minutes north to Pine Belt in Keyport, which is exactly what we did after dealing with Marc. A friendly, helpful staff greeted us in Keyport. Rich, Matt, and Marco took all of 40 minutes to handle the lease buyout paperwork. Marc Stango and his Toms River team should take a lesson or two from Pine Belt Nissan in Keyport. UPDATE: In addition to my reviews, I also contacted the owner of the dealership, Mike Trebino. I received a phone call almost immediately after sending Mike an email about my experience. He apologized for Marc’s behavior and admitted that his Toms River team should’ve handled my lease buyout as easily as Keypor did. I appreciate that Mike addressed my concerns, yet it still doesn’t change the way we were treated in his Toms River showroom. More
Upon walking into PineBelt Robert was very helpful from the start. He showed me several different models of the car that I was interested in and made sure to show me the key features of the car. From the moment I contacted the Pine Belt Nissan Dealership, the service was past exceptional. Jim Ansbach was my salesman and if I could explain my experience with him in one word it would be: Impr Dealership, the service was past exceptional. From start to finish not only was Jim professional and well-mannered, he talked to you truthfully and on a personal level. Being in my early 20's, buying a car for the first time is stressful. Jim did anything and everything to make sure I received the car that I wanted and he was happy to do it. He was excited for me and he showed it. He went over each small detail with me happily ,down to the last hair, he wanted to make sure I was comfortable and happy. You often can't find this in the auto world. He called when he said he would and consistently over delivered. The entire Pine Belt staff was delightful. I purchased a 2013 Silver Altima SL Tech package. Not only would I recommend this dealership because of their superb customer experience, but also because they have the most options and they clearly go above and beyond. Thank you for all your hard work Jim! And a shout out to Rose for being amazing at locating my car and super sweet! More
I was not satisfied with the attentiveness this dealer gave us. We went in with an appointment to buy a car, but waited at least a half hour before our salesman assisted us. At one point he went away to get us a plate to take the car for a test drive, and just disappeared for about 20 minutes. Then he showed up with the plate and we went for the test drive. We finally got down to the actual sales transaction. I think I got a good deal on the car, a 2011 Nissan Cube and a good price for my trade, a 2006 Ford Focus. Then we went into the finance office, and things just got worse. The machine that printed the contracts wasn't working and no one was able to figure it out. Finally our salesman come in and together he and the finance guy got it working. Overall, we spent about 3 and a half hours at this dealership just to make this purchase. If this car was for me or my wife, we would have walked out, but since it was for my daughter, and she wanted this particular car in this particular color, we stayed. A month later we hadn't received the payment book for the car. I called the dealership for two days, leaving messages for the finance department to find out what the delay was. No one ever returned my call. Finally, I called and insisted I speak to a live person in finance, a manager, or someone in the business office. Someone was finally able to give me the information on the finance company, and I straightened out the mess myself. Fortunately the finance company understood and I was not assessed any late fees. I would not recommend this dealership as a friendly place to shop. More
Outstanding service all around. Salesman, Mr. Germann, was straight forward, knew his product well, and was first rate in keeping the sales process going in the right direction. When I took possession of the vehicle, I did note a deficiency regarding the air conditioning, brought it to Mr. Germann's attention, and he had the car in and out of the shop in no time flat. Thats what being a first rate salesman is all about. Sell you product, and then back it up with proper remedial service if necessary. As for Mr. Kevin Morey, he is in the second half of the buying process, FINANCE!! He went out of his way to explain every last number on the price agreed upon as it pertained to the credit form. At first there was a discrepancy regarding the "Out the door" price, but it was quickly resolved in a very professional manner to both are satisfaction. I have been going to this dealership for service regarding my wife's 2009 Versa and could not be more satisfied. Their service advisers are professional in demeanor, treat you with respect as a valued customer, and the work performed is FIRST RATE!! More
I purchased my Cadillac at Pine Belt and therefore researched Pine Belt Nissan. I did go to other Nissan Dealers and to my surprise WHAT a comparison. At Pine Belt Michale McGuire was very thoroug researched Pine Belt Nissan. I did go to other Nissan Dealers and to my surprise WHAT a comparison. At Pine Belt Michale McGuire was very thorough in finding us the car we requested and also explaining everything we needed to know. Pine Belt staff were very polite, professional and respectful. I feel they were fair in their pricing. Other agencies gave us a 'strong arm' treatment one was very arrogant, even though his price was a few hundred dollers less I certainly didn't want to deal with them. I also had the feeling that some of these agencies looked down upon a female that is the poor attitude I received. This did NOT happen at Pine Belt Nissan. i was very please with their services. More

I visited on a Wednesday evening knowing exactly which vehicle I wanted and the first quote was a little high. I returned on Saturday morning after doing my research and we quickly negotiated a better price. I advised them that I wanted to be out of the dealership in 1.5 hours at noon and I was walking out the door at 12:01. Nice. I would return to deal with Robert if I was purchsing another Nissan. Kevin explained all the documents I had to sign and gave me time to review them. More
