Kyle Hunter answered my call and set up an appointment for our car. He let me know I could drop it off the night before which really made it a lot easier for my family. Then he called me that morning with for our car. He let me know I could drop it off the night before which really made it a lot easier for my family. Then he called me that morning with a review of the things that needed fixing along with a cost estimate and a time estimate for completion. The cost was higher than I anticipated but this was due to the nature of what needed to be fixed (a whole axle replacement). However, this vehicle is very important to us and we decided to have the work done. Kyle followed up with us to let us know it might take a day or so longer due to the axle they needed had not yet received and he arranged for us to immediately come over and pick up a loaner vehicle. This helped my family tremendously as we have children going to school and work at different times; they used my car while my wife used the loaner. The work ended up being done on time and for the cost that had been estimated. The overall experience with Kyle in particular and Phillips Chevrolet in general was excellent. I was out running errands and went in to schedule an appointment for an oil change on the weekend. I found out they had extended service hours during the week. It was already 7pm but they took appoint appointment for an oil change on the weekend. I found out they had extended service hours during the week. It was already 7pm but they took appointments until 8pm!! I waited about 40 minutes and Tim gave my car back with an oil change, tire rotation and a car wash. I even forgot my coupon and Tim gave me the stated price anyway. It really is great that the dealership has extended hours. It is sometimes hard to get in for service if you work a straight 9-5 and can't find a day convenient to your work schedule. Very pleased with the dealership.......But: I do have one beef that goes back to a recall that was performed some time ago. The oil drain hole area on the Cruze was subject to recall because of a fire hazard. The Cruze has an entire underbody skirting to enclose the chassis and give better air flow and hence, better gas mileage. When Chevy did the recall on the oil drain area, instead of just enlarging the hole, they cut out about a two foot wide section of the skirting from the front of the car all the way to the rear of the car, exposing the chassis to the air turbulence they were preventing with the skirt in the first place. It just seems that instead of the existing one inch diameter hole they could have gotten by with cutting a 4 or 6 inch diameter hole under the oil pan drain plug, instead of nearly destroying the entire underbody skirting. Had I known what Chevy intended to do on this recall, I would have used my own doorknob hole cutters and performed the "recall" myself. However, so far, I have not seen a significant reduction in gas mileage. I still get about 40mpg on the highway with conservative driving. Just seems like a shoddy way to take care of a problem. Let's try for a better solution next time, huh, guys? More
