Let the Games Begin - Bait & Switch I had a very bad experience at this dealership. I visited this dealership to purchase an F150 truck because of the $17K "loss leader" hail damage sa I had a very bad experience at this dealership. I visited this dealership to purchase an F150 truck because of the $17K "loss leader" hail damage sale they were advertising for one particular truck. From the sales folks all the way to the General Manager whom I interacted with were all courteous and professional. However, when it was time to make the purchase it was constant game of bait and switch on either the purchase price of the truck or the available rebates and incentives. The purchase price fluctuated between $52,150 all the way to $57,150. The rebates and discounts I qualified for also fluctuated from $12,000 to as much as $18,800. Both going up and down at the whim of who ever I was dealing with whether the sales staff, sales floor manager, new car sales manager or the sales manager. I understood and had no problem with the dealer handling charges, fees, or taxes. The $17K incentive advertisement was also very clear. You could qualify for up to that much. However what I qualified for always varied depending upon who was trying fleece me. I tried to negotiate and they were very rigid. At one point we were about $3K apart in price and I offered to split the difference. They wouldn't. Of course they don't have to but this is suppose to be a bargaining exchange I thought. I was told one price on the sales lot and when I wanted to make my purchase, that is when the games began! I had a friend with me who witnessed much of these shenanigans and he provided me a letter which I submitted to the senior leadership of the store. The response I received ignored the issue (the fluctuating price and discounts) and focused on peripheral generic topics. I will never return to this dealership and will strongly urge my friends to avoid them because of their deceptive if not out right dishonest practices. I would not even rate my "Customer Service", "Overall", "Quality of Work", or "Price" experience with a single star if I could. My interaction with this dealership is why the car sales dealership industry so often gets such a bad name. If you want a complete opposite experience, visit the great folks at "Phil Long Motor City" just off of I-25. Mark Barton and his folks are customer focused , treat you right and have the long term perspective in mind. They want you as a long term customer! More
