The best in a tough industry Unfortunately, the business model of auto sales in the U.S. is adversarial and mutually distrustful between customers and dealers. Both sides are culp Unfortunately, the business model of auto sales in the U.S. is adversarial and mutually distrustful between customers and dealers. Both sides are culpable, as customers generally are obsessed with 'winning' the best deal when maybe there are other things to consider (relationships over time, excellent service, quality). On the dealer side business models that involve salesmen and women acting as intermediaries between customer and sales managers is inherently flawed. Still, within this highly flawed framework Phil Hughes Honda stands above the rest. While they do have the typical sales mechanics, Phil Hughes has had decades to perfect a calm, respectful atmosphere. Their employees tend to be long-term and one gets the sense they are treated well. I look very closely at this factor when doing business with any organization...if they don't treat their people well, they likely can't be trusted any further. Importantly, I feel my salesman, Bryan Fuller, and finance manager, Jerry Gay, are decent, kind men working in a challenging field. I felt like I dealt with two human beings who wanted things to work out for me in a positive way. Great guys with long tenure at Phil Hughes (definitely ask for Bryan, best salesman I've ever had). I didn't need gap insurance so much, but I bought it anyway, as a thank you and acknowledgment that there are two sides to every street. I give Phil Hughes my strongest recommendation. They are the best in a tough industry and that's saying something. More

Said what they would charge and actually charged less. I own a hybrid car and that has seemed to be intimidating or something for the small town repair shops. But my car had a weird noise, and I had to go somewhere so I took it to Hughes and I was pleased. The odd noise was just the brakes. They were possibly more expensive than the smaller repair shops, but they did what they said, and I knew what the cost would be before the repairs. And I felt confident that the work was done right. Some of the places that advertise lower prices, like the parts shops that also do brakes and oil changes and have coupons, add so much that we’ve felt ripped off by the time we leave. Last time anyone in our family went to one of those places the cost was over twice as much as the coupon price, with the coupon. I was very pleased. My one recommendation to them is to make better coffee, not so weak, and get real cream instead of the powder. It seems like a small thing, but if you’re stuck there waiting a long time, there is no place within walking distance that I found for a decent cup of coffee. They did have cake and bottled water, which was nice. More
