Major Engine Repair due to Excessive Rust and Corrosion We purchased a 2006 Toyota Tacoma in Nov from a dealer in Salt Lake City. In late March while driving through Nevada, the head gaskets blew. The tru We purchased a 2006 Toyota Tacoma in Nov from a dealer in Salt Lake City. In late March while driving through Nevada, the head gaskets blew. The truck was towed to Winnemucca for repair. As the repair shop started working on the engine, they experienced EXTREME corrosion all over the engine. In fact, they could not remove one of the head covers because the nuts were frozen with Rust. I have the truck towed to Reno to a larger repair shop called AutoMotion. As they started working on it, they experienced the same challenges due to EXTREME corrosion. They recommended an engine replacement and found a good used engine. Their estimate was $9000.00. The dealer in Salt Lake City washed their hands of any involvement in this situation even though they had to know about this EXSTREME case of Rust and corrosion. I will be taking legal action against this dealership for fraud. I purchased additional insurance when I purchased the vehicle. This insurance company refused to be of any assistance saying this was outside of the policy I purchased. I will be taking legal action against this insurance company for fraud. I had the car towed to Boise to Peterson Toyota. They understood my situation and were understanding of the daunting task and cost of getting our truck repaired. Peterson agreed that replacing the engine was the right decision and although they did not sell me the car, they were committed to helping me as much as they could regarding the cost of the repair. We agreed and they started work. Throughout the process, Peterson was very professional and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The final bill as was about $8500 and I think there are more repairs to come. Although this is near the same price as the shop in Reno quoted, I feel much better about having my truck at Peterson Toyota for these kinds of repairs. The EXTREME rust and corrosion is an issue with Toyota that I will have to take up with Toyota. All over the under body there is EXTEMEM rust and corrosion....for a vehicle at this age, especially a Toyota....I am shocked and this should not be happening. I am more shocked that Toyota has simply turned their back on me saying.....it is not their problem! I happily purchased this Toyota based on owning a Toyota Highlander and the reputation for reliability Toyota enjoys...I probably even paid a premium. My daughter needs a new having just graduated from College. I was set up helping her purchase a Toyota...but now.....how I afford the risk. More

Happy with 5000 mile check I was very pleased with the service I received this morning. I was greeted pleasantly and after going through the initial paperwork, I was shown to t I was very pleased with the service I received this morning. I was told it would take approximately 1 hour 20 minutes, including a wash. I was actually on my way in about 45 minutes, including a wash and vacuum. Thank you so much for your service. More
My experience buying a new Toyota Tundra Overall the experience was a positive one as I ended up with a brand new and awesome looking truck. Darin was great to work with for most of the day. I think he got a little frustrated with my ability to negotiate longer than most people would have the patience for and I realize it was late in the day and he wanted to go camping the next day so his time was wearing thin to pack for his trip etc. I wished that he would have remained a little bit more positive about the experience as we got to the end of our negotiations and I didn't find it appropriate to discuss how much he was making (or not making) on his commission for the deal as I continued to negotiate the price down to what was workable for me. I'm not upset about those things but it would have made the experience nearly perfect which is why I have chosen to rate my overall experience as good instead of great. Darin did a phenomenal job of showing us what we wanted to look at and was patient with us trying to make our decision to even consider negotiating for the new vehicle. He spent nearly an entire afternoon and evening with us to figure out how we could make it work and I realize that was keeping him from working with other potential buying customers so I do understand the bit of frustration coming from him but I also realize that if I got frustrated with my customers at work and discussed my pay with them, they would most likely not be customers anymore. I am very pleased with Darin's ability to show the vehicles and discuss all the working components of them. He was great in taking the time to show me how to program the computer to work with my phone following the purchase and was prompt at getting my first service appointment set up. I would not hesitate to work with Darin or the dealership again as long as we could avoid the couple of minor things that my fiancée and myself felt were a bit unnecessary. I also rated the price category a bit lower due to what I felt was a low trade-in value of the Nissan Titan I traded in. It was in very good shape with low miles and should have been worth more in my opinion based on the research I did on it prior to starting the process of shopping for something different. Overall, I am happy with the new purchase. I love driving the new truck and I look forward to hopefully having a good relationship over the years with the dealership as I will have to have it serviced once in awhile. More

John was exceptional in his ability to describe to me the situation with my car. I described to him my problem, I had already taken my car to two other service businesses, and each said I needed a new transmission, which would cost me between $3600-5000. I just graduated from college and am a single mom of two kids, so that amount worried me. John picked up on the issue and was able to tell me over the phone that the problem in a 2001-2003 toyota Rav4 may not be the transmission, but the ECM. He described what that was and how that could be mistaken by other service centers as a transmission failure. He also informed me that getting a new transmission and a new aftermarket ECM would not solve the problem. He researched the solution quickly and found that a warranty extension had been offered for this exact problem and having my car serviced by a Toyota specialist would be the best way to go, considering the computer issue. My other service places said they knew of the problem, but simply replacing the ECM did not solve the problem 90% of the time. I told John this, and he agreed, because of the programming that the other service centers were not capable of. He assured me that replacing the ECM first would most likely solve the problem, and if not, the transmission would need to be looked at. The ECM was the cheaper of the two options, so I agreed to replacing the ECM. After picking up my car, John was right. My baby works wonderful again. On John's service abilities, he was very cordial and informative. His personality was friendly and he understood my sarcasm. He was very easy to work with and I trusted in his knowledge and experience. He scheduled me in the same day, said it would take about 2 hours, and 2 hours on the dot, he called and said my car was ready, and I also received an email. I was in and out the same day. A new transmission would had taken 5 days, and I had a busy weekend and no spare car. I would give John the credit of saving me thousands and allowing me to have a car for my weekend. Thank You! More
