Unfortunately, there are times when we sell a vehicle that you cannot see an issue coming no matter how thorough the inspection process. Particularly when the vehicle is 14-years-old with 170,000 miles on it such as in this situation. Regrettably, in this circumstance, you did not purchase extended coverage, you signed a document stating the vehicle was sold 100% AS-IS. We were very disappointed when you came in so soon after purchase with an issue, however we checked it out at no charge and upon hearing of the timing issue, we informed then you that though you purchased the car completely AS-IS for $8900 (not $13,000) we would offer you the coverage we offer on other non AS-IS vehicles. That warranty is a 50/50 parts and labor coverage. Not only would we cover half of a repair we legally had no obligation to cover we would also give you a brand-new car to drive for a week while we made the repair. This is not an offer many dealers would make and an offer most customers would be content with. Nonetheless, there is certainly no easy way to deal with a situation like this. We try to be as understanding and as accommodating as possible while still running a business. I am truly sorry your purchase wasn’t what you needed it to be.
