Perkins Dodge - fair and honest My experience at Perkins Dodge is and has been excellent. I bought my car there and have it serviced there when I don't do the work myself. I know som My experience at Perkins Dodge is and has been excellent. I bought my car there and have it serviced there when I don't do the work myself. I know something of auto mechanics and the checks they do find things that actually need attention and are not come ons for the legendary "engine flush" or other big dollar but totally unnecessary services. I'll continue my relationship with Perkins Dodge into the future. More

I brought it back in hoping they would be able to fix it again. The service person (female) claimed they had never made the repair to my car and claimed they had only looked at the transmission. In fact, they did both. I insisted they did and she suggested I didn't know the difference between oil and transmission fluid... Big difference... Surprising that a female would try to pull the old "get one over on the woman" trick. Had she taken the time to look back through all the service records this conversation would not have gone the way it did. Also, do not buy their service packages if you have low mileage vehicles. I used 3 and they expired. Basically I paid over $100/per oil change on my car and truck. I should have read the fine print that they expire. "My bad" but don't fall victim to it. More
Check Your Owners Manual/ Check your recalls FIRST OF ALL, SALES SEEMS TO BE ALRIGHT, BUT BEWARE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. One Piece of advice for all people that have no other choice but to FIRST OF ALL, SALES SEEMS TO BE ALRIGHT, BUT BEWARE OF THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. One Piece of advice for all people that have no other choice but to take your car to the money pit, CHECK YOUR OWNERS MANUAL AND LEARN YOUR SERVICE SCHEDULE. Perkins standard 30k service sold includes changing of all fluids in differentials, t-case, and everything. Cost is increased for customer without need. Chryslers states that an inspection of these fluids are to be conducted and unless something is wrong, (metal shavings, contaminated, etc...) these fluids are not recommended to be changed until later. Parts will overcharge, and every screw or bolt is added to cost. Colorado Springs Dodge and Faircy Boys is a way better alternative to Perkins, Jiffy Lube is a better alternative to Perkins. Perkins main objective is to make money, and they don't care if it hurts their customers. Even if they seem nice, they only have the one agenda. Service writers and techs all get bonuses on upselling service. even if it is not needed. Check your recalls. If you have an R09 recall or a P65 recall, or anything that involves wires, chances are if you got the recall done at Perkins, the recall was done incorrectly and your vehicle is at risk of fire, or failure. Head lamp wiring recalls are not done, they just put a rubber seal on the old wires to make it look as if the recall was actually performed. Warranty work is not always done by certified techs, chances are if you had work done that was warranty, the tech that did the work didn't know what they were doing. Perkins does not push for training in different sections so when there is warranty work to be done, an uncertified tech will do the work and a certified tech will clock the time so on paper it looks like it was done correctly. Also, check your fluids. when they sell you a power steering flush they just empty the reservoir and refill it, they don't actually flush the system. same with coolant. Transmission service and flush. when you are servicing the transmission and replacing filters, you do not need to flush the cooler. a flush is done when the transmission pan is not being dropped. BUT THEY WILL SELL YOU BOTH ANYWAYS Know what you have. Some of the new vehicles have non serviceable transmissions and other components, Perkins will tell you that you need a service and charge you for a service that cannot be performed, even if they tell you the work is done. Check your clips. Normally if the dealership is responsible for breaking a clip or a push pin or a rivet, then the dealership will pay the $6 to replace it. Perkins will either not fix it and there will be parts hanging loose, or charge you for the replacement part. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PERKINS MOTOR COMPANY SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY WILL DO SHADY WORK, RIP YOU OFF AND CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS THAT ARE NOT DONE AND NOT NEEDED. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AND WILL DO EVERYTHING IN THEIR POWER TO GET MORE MONEY OUT OF YOU. More
Perkins People...Superheros? My name is Kerri R, and recently I chose to do business with Perkins because many years ago I had met the owner and he made a strong impression on me. My name is Kerri R, and recently I chose to do business with Perkins because many years ago I had met the owner and he made a strong impression on me. I told myself all those years ago, when I earned Mr Perkin's business that I would some day do business with his company. The impression Mr Perkins gave me was one of integrity. I did business with Perkins Dodge a couple of weeks ago, and I would like to tell you about my experience. Bess scheduled me for some work on my Dodge Durango, she was extremely accommodating, professional, and helpful. The day of the scheduled work she and another young gentleman greeted me. She assured me that she would get my car back to me as soon as possible. The gentleman was already crawling under my car to take a look. I thought, "Wow, they don't mess around!" She called as soon as my car was finished, way ahead of schedule. I found that every single Perkins employee was above and beyond professional! I looked for them all to be superhero's with invisible "Perkin's capes" or something! Upon returning my rental car, I had no ride at the last minute.... so I called Bess and Perkins. They had a driver there in under 30 mins to pick me up. How was that even possible? Superhero's, I'm telling you! Then even the young courtesy driver was so friendly, and when he dropped me off he got me right to where I needed to be. Great experience! I will tell everyone I know! It will not be the last time I do business with these superhuman invisible cape wearers! More
Transmission Problems I have always had my Jeeps serviced at the dealership. This may I lost 3rd gear in my remanufactured transmission with 40K miles on it. Unfortunately I have always had my Jeeps serviced at the dealership. This may I lost 3rd gear in my remanufactured transmission with 40K miles on it. Unfortunately the people at Perkins and Jeep would not stand by their warranty because the time had expired but miles were way under. Further they told me that I needed another remanufactured transmission at a cost of $6000. That didn't make sense to me as the transmission showed absolutely no signs of slipping or other faults until it failed. After going through two service advisors and connecting with a service manager, I had the car towed to a locat Transmission shop. In less than an afternoon the problem was identified and a broken valve actuator body plate, which is a known problem with these transmissions, My question is why couldn't the EXPERT Perkins staff make this diagnosis??? Why were they trying to sell me another &6000 transmission while not standing behind their previous one??? I guess if you read some of the other reviews you will have your answer. I pity the poor souls who are not astute enough to know when they are being xx'd . More
BAD Service - Completely mislead me I took my 2500 Dodge RAM truck (2006 with only 55,000 miles on it!) in to Perkins after seeing tire wear in a strange pattern. Tire company and local I took my 2500 Dodge RAM truck (2006 with only 55,000 miles on it!) in to Perkins after seeing tire wear in a strange pattern. Tire company and local mechanic said to have it checked by the dealer because of known recall issues so i took it to Perkins. Worked through service assistant manager, Donnie J. Multiple conversations with Donnie occurred - even asking him to make sure the tires were aligned after correcting the issue so I would not continue to have tire issues (tires only 1 year old and ruined). He told me yes, of course. He even gave me the numbers to Chrysler so I could follow up with them on seeing about reimbursement for the tires after i picked up the truck. I opened a case with Chrysler and to my surprise, learned they NEVER did anything to correct the issue. They say it wasn't the recall they checked for, but NEVER BOTHERED TO TELL ME WHAT THE ISSUE WAS/IS!! Nothing noted, nothing told. Just let me drive out of there with apparently the same issue i brought the truck in for and never telling me what was wrong! Donnie mislead me during the entire process to believe that my issue was corrected. I even had them do other work, while the truck was in there getting my initial issue corrected! This is the short version - lots more details if anyone needs them. Bottom line - this dealership is NOT be honest. I will NEVER buy another Dodge and encourage you to watch your servicing with a fine tooth comb. Find a mechanic you can actually trust. More
beware bait and switch in service department I wish I could post less than a star. Over a month ago I took my 2009 Jeep Patriot with the lifetime powertain warranty here for a check engine light. I wish I could post less than a star. Over a month ago I took my 2009 Jeep Patriot with the lifetime powertain warranty here for a check engine light. I had already pulled the code and knew the issue to be with my Intake manifold. I was told they needed to diagnose it anyways. OK no big deal. So I make an appointment and drop it off. About an hour and a half later I get a call from the service department. Yes there is a problem with the intake manifold and they will get it fixed. It is covered under my Lifetime warranty and no problems there. He then proceeds to try and sell me a new radiator cap, Fuel injector cleaning, spark plugs, and a new battery for $700.00. I politely declined as I do my own plugs, a radiator cap is 10 dollars and I had a battery on order already. Just fix the main problem please. Again told no problem. About 2 hours later they call me again. I figure my Jeep is ready. They inform me oh by the way now it is not covered under warranty and it is going to cost me over $300 to repair it. At this point I have been woken up twice and my vehicle isn't even done. Also I need it to be done by 4pm so I can go to work. I work nights and that is why I made an appointment for when they open and dropped it off as they opened. I tell him just fix it so I can go to work in a couple hours. I return to Perkins at 4pm I pay the fees and get my truck back. 2 Days later I receive an email survey. I convey this entire story on it and am told by their online system I will get a call back to discuss why I am unhappy. Yeah I never heard a thing from them. So now I am posting my reviews online to get the word out. Perkins will pull a bait and switch in their service department. From now on I will take the Jeep to Pueblo or Denver. Maybe there I will get true honest service from a dealer who actually cares about their customers. More
Terrible Experience The funny thing about customer service is that you can mandate all the automatic emails and follow-up phone calls that attempt to show that you care a The funny thing about customer service is that you can mandate all the automatic emails and follow-up phone calls that attempt to show that you care about the customer, but in the end, they mean nothing unless each and every one of your employees understands and actually believes in its purpose. The employees at this dealership could clearly care less about the customer, and I'm not sure if that is a result of the high volume of sales that give them a perception that it doesn't matter or if the management is simply very poor. Perkins needs to realize that although they sell products, a majority of what they do is provide a service, and If they don't provide that service well, they will lose customers. In our experience, they lost the potential for a lifetime customer because they failed miserably in servicing our vehicle, displaying any sense of urgency in fixing the problem, and after threatening to leave the dealer and sell the vehicle, they did absolutely nothing to show that they wanted to retain our business and prevent a total loss. If I ever choose to get back into one of the brands they sell, it will undoubtedly be with another dealer! If you are writing a positive review about them, wait until you have an issue with your vehicle. I believe that there is a strong possibility that you will retract your review. You have been warned... More
