Perfection Honda responded

Hello Gelidian, Jim Wing here with Perfection Honda. First, please accept an apology on behalf of all of us at Perfection Honda. After a thorough review of the situation I will respond as follows: The terms that we're agreed upon were to pay off the remaining balance that was owed on the trade vehicle. This being said, we always present a proposal to each and every customer revealing proposed vehicle sale price, offer of trade value and clearly show the trade balance. In many cases the trade value may be less than the vehicle payoff. This was the case here. We made an offer on the trade which was less than the payoff and stated the balance of the vehicle would be paid off on the new loan. If this was misunderstood, we do apologize. The reason the sale price appeared higher than agreed upon was due to adjustments for the negative equity in the vehicle. For example: if an agreed price is $10,000 and the trade value is $4,000 but the payoff is $6,000, there is $2,000 negative equity. Most lending institutions will not accept contracts with negative equity. What takes place is the sale price increases by the negative $2,000 to $12,000 but the trade also is increased $2,000 to $6,000. The agreed upon price and amount financed is exactly the same. If this was confusing, it surely was not intentional. Please accept our sincerest apologies for any misunderstanding. I would be happy to discuss this matter with you if you have any questions. We would love the opportunity to regain your trust and future business if at all possible! Respectfully, Jim Wing New Car Director, Perfection Honda 898-0000

When I was not able to complete the purchase, salesman left a nasty voice mail on my phone. Really didn't need one more person piling-on at that point in time. Thanks for a lousy customer experience! More

Perfection Honda responded

Hello Scotchbear: We were very sorry to read your review and hear that you had a negative experience at Perfection and felt mislead. We strive to exceed our customers expectations in everything we do, and take it seriously when a customer is not satisfied. We in no way want to mislead or in any way deceive our customers. In response to this particular issue, we contacted our 3rd party vendor BlackBook Online to print the coupon you are referring to and reviewed the exact verbiage to try to how see how it may be viewed as misleading. The coupon does state "Get Full Market Value for Your Trade* [...] Present this coupon with your Black Book Online Trade Appraisal, you will receive full value on your trade". However, on the front of the coupon, it also indicates that "*Dealer may adjust value based on actual vehicle condition or changes in local market conditions". BlackBook Online's quoted ranges are normally quite accurate (which is why we've chosen them as our trade-in quote provider), but these local market variations do happen on occasion. When they do, we sometimes make an offer either higher or lower than the online quoted range. This was the case with your make and model of Jeep. While your vehicles condition was not an issue, our research showed a more than 200 day supply of the vehicle locally (very high!), making it worth less. This over-supply is mainly due to the fact that this make/model of Jeep was heavily sold to rental agencies (and subsequently reintroduced into the used car market in high numbers), and was less popular than the similar 4 door model. We take pride in our record of honest communication with customers, and our standards and training dictate that this information should be communicated to you throughout the car buying process. If the message did not get through, either on the coupon itself or in communication with our employees, again we apologize. If we can do anything to further address this issue, please feel free to contact us at 505-898-0000 and ask to speak to the sales manager.
