I contacted Penske Chevrolet in Indianapolis to buy a new Chevy Silverado 2500 they had coming in. Cameron, my sales person, was responsive and friendly. However, he told me his management refused to sell Chevy Silverado 2500 they had coming in. Cameron, my sales person, was responsive and friendly. However, he told me his management refused to sell me the truck, even for their full asking price, because I live out of state and didn't have a trade they could make even more money on. I guess they only sell cars to people that not only buy the car for full price, as I agreed to, but also provide them additional profit streams. That is a new first for me, a car dealer refusing to sell me a truck a full asking price because I wasn't spoon feeding additional profit to them. They think because it is out of state people they treat this way, that it won't haunt them, but my family lives in Indianapolis and they have promised not to give their business to Penske and they have already told their friends the story on Facebook with expected results. People already don't trust dealers, shady stuff like this just fuels that stereotype. Max Profit first, customer last. More
I originally had given this dealership five stars after my first visit here went well. The other Chevrolet Service dealership in Greenwood, IN had lied about a repair that needed to be done on the car and my first visit here went well. The other Chevrolet Service dealership in Greenwood, IN had lied about a repair that needed to be done on the car and only after taking it to this one did I realize the lie. No one mentioned the catalytic converter needing replacing at 96th St (roughly $1700). This past Saturday, I dropped my vehicle off for an oil change and to have the back windshield wiper replaced. I was given a few "critical repairs" that needed to be done to the car, none of which involved the air conditioning system, and declined them all because I wasn't planning on getting a bunch of stuff "fixed" that wasn't told to me just two months ago as needing to be repaired. The day after (yesterday) dropping my car off here, my air conditioning system stopped working all of a sudden. It's been working for more than a year with absolutely no problems until now. Called the service department back only to be told that if I drop it off today, they might be able to get it looked at. At this point, I don't even trust them anymore and will not be providing money and time wasted here anymore. I only came here because our entire family uses them. More
Buyer Beware. If you are buying a used car, Penske Buyer Beware. If you are buying a used car, Penske Chevrolet can't be trusted. My experience is they do not care about the customer. They only care Buyer Beware. If you are buying a used car, Penske Chevrolet can't be trusted. My experience is they do not care about the customer. They only care about the sale. I bought a 2014 Chevy Traverse on June 30th. We paid cash as part of a trade in. The Traverse had 140K miles, but seemed to be in good working order, until we got it home. On the first night it leaked power steering fluid all over my driveway and street- as pictured. I contacted our salesman and asked if they could give the car a complimentary look over- even though it was out of warranty. The salesman told me "There were no signs of leaks... it was sold as is" In other words, not only would they not fix the problem, they wouldn't even give it a complimentary look over. So I was forced to take the car I owned for only a few days to a repair place myself. There it was diagnosed with a leaking power steering pressure hose and faulty power steering pump. That left me with a $1,600 repair bill for a car I owned for less than a week. All of these are documented facts. In my opinion there is no way Penske's service department didn't know about this leak before the sale. They were either blind or willfully ignorant of the issue they were passing onto the customer. While they may have been within their rights to refuse to fix the problem, the fact that they wouldn't even check it out for free illustrates how little they valued me as a customer. Shame on them, The Penske name deserves better in Indianapolis. I repeat my earlier advice. Buyer Beware. Penske Chevrolet can't be trusted. More
