After being bounced between two sales people who couldn't seem to get a vehicle for me after a week, I chose to go with another dealership. Initially, I was taken on a test drive by a sales person who kept apologizing for not knowing much about the vehicle. He even quipped, at one point, that "women are most interested in lighted vanity mirrors and number of cup holders." When I brought my car in for an appraisal at the time one of the salespersons told me to, that person wasn't due in for at least 3 hours. With two small children, I don't have time for people who waste my time. That should have been my first indication to just walk away. After a week of calls where I was told they had the vehicle I was looking for somewhere else and they were "going after it" and then called back to say it was unavailable, I became frustrated. When I finally let them know I was no longer interested in working with their dealership, one of the salespersons actually called me back and argued about how much work was actually done and why I should have stuck with them. Talked to Gene Champneys about purchasing a new corvette. He seemed indifferent and arrogant. Before I spent $50K or more, I talked to a local corvette club in Indy only to find out that they dropped Penske as a sponsor. I also obtained a copy of a nasty e-mail that Gene had sent a potential customer over a purchase of a corvette. If a dealer is allowing their sales staff to do that, I will not buy from them. I suggest that before anyone buys a corvette from Penske, contact the largest corvette club in Indy for their thoughts. More
