Our sales representative Zach was wonderful, helpful, and clear about the options of the sales given to us. Despite the slowness of other departments, Zach got everything to us as fast as possible. The Good: G1. This dealership gave me the best price by far in the several states where I looked for a vehicle (Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississi This dealership gave me the best price by far in the several states where I looked for a vehicle (Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, and Mississippi). - "Five (5) Stars". G2. They managed to get me a good price in a couple of days, where other dealerships were slow to respond (talked to one dealer in Birmingham for about two (2) weeks)- and were even misleading about the "bottom line price". "Five (5) Stars". G3. The salesman, Ashley Williams, was very nice, responsive and helpful throughout the process. "Four (4) Stars". G4. The dealer installed options (roof rack, cross-bars, trailer wiring harness and 2" receiver were installed correctly and "on time". This also involved Ashley Williams, so part of this comment goes to him. "Five (5) Stars". G5. Because of the problems (See “The Bad”) I experienced, they did lower the price of the vehicle a few hundred dollars and “gave” me an additional two (2) years of maintenance coverage. And while I would not have purchased the additional maintenance, the “value” of the maintenance (as they had it shown) was approximately the amount of the CC points (See B1.). I was already committed to buying the vehicle at that point (as I drove approximately twenty (20) hours to purchase the vehicle). They didn’t have to make this adjustment, but did it without me having to ask for it. “Four (4) Stars). The Bad: B1. I first started with one sales person (Wendy) and eventually got handed off to Jake Denker who started the negotiation, before handing me off to Ashley. Most of his service was very good, however there was a pretty big "hiccup". When he asked me how I was going to pay for the vehicle, I specifically told him that was going to use a credit card (for the points) and then pay-off the card. I have done this before at another Honda dealer (in AR), and they actually suggested using a CC for the points. I went to the trouble of getting a temporary CC limit increase, and moved money in accounts to cover the CC payment. When I went to pay for the car, Ashley told me that they couldn't accept a CC, but would accept a debit card - of course none of the banks would allow an amount to cover the cost of a vehicle. Since I reasonably believed that I was going to use a CC, I didn't bring a checkbook. Eventually, I could move some funds into my wife’s account (she brought her checkbook). This took a good bit of time, effort and frustration - and “cost me” several hundred dollars (by not getting the points). “Two (2) Stars”. B2. When asked about CC debacle, Jake stated that he never told me that they would accept a CC for payment. Which I suppose is technically correct. When I told him that I was planning to use a CC for payment, and why, Jake never mentioned that they would not accept a CC. He did later say that they would accept a credit card, but they would charge me approximately seven (7) percent – which is a lot more than the CC charges the vendor. “One (1) Star”. B3. Financing. First, I blame this item partially on American Honda. The only reason I was financing any amount, was the $1,000 incentive for financing through Honda Finance Corp. There should be an incentive for paying cash, as there is less paperwork for the dealer/salesman to perform – and they don’t have to worry about getting paid, repossessions, etc. “One (1) Star”. B4. Financing. Because of data breaches, I have all of my, and my wife’s, credit locked by all three (3) credit services. Neither the dealer or I thought about this being problem until they went to run my credit for financing. Then I was told the wrong credit service to “unlock”- this took over an hour to realize. Then I had to unlock the credit service that Honda uses. All in all – I had to unlock four (4) credit service accounts which probably took me an hour on the voice response systems. Even when all of the credit service accounts were unlocked, it still was showing locked until I gave the dealer finance guy the confirmation numbers. This was p More
