Poor experience and no follow up I’ve taken two Hyundai Sonatas to Pearson for service for the last 7 years. I always had great service, and accordingly gave exceptional grades on Hyundai surveys. I’ve emailed in the past to compliment about the terrific service. Unfortunately my visit last week was not one of those times. I brought my 2014 Hyundai Sonata in for the factory Hyundai Sonata engine recall at 7am after making the appointment 2 weeks in advance. I checked in and asked if the recall and a tire rotation (for Pearson Hyundai’s website coupon for $20 on the website) could be done in an hour. I had a ride lined up, but was told an hour would be fine. So I advised my ride that I would wait. Two hours later, after no contact or status update from anyone, I’m told my car is ready. I had to reschedule a meeting at work since I’d already given up my ride. The story doesn’t get any better from here. I check out and the bill is $24.95, ignoring the coupon for the rotation we’d already discussed. Normally, I would’ve paid it since it was only 5 bucks, but given my level of dissatisfaction of being ignored, I made them honor the coupon we'd already discussed and rewrite the bill. Finally, on the way out the door, I look at the vehicle inspection report and everything is marked "green", with the exception of the engine air filter and cabin air filter which are marked "yellow" (consider replacing). That is most interesting of all, since I had changed both of them myself the night before. If the techs/service writers aren’t even going to look and mark items arbitrarily, why even supply the report? It could make it difficult to trust them in the future. Again, I guess I’m disappointed given the experiences I’m used to. But clearly, this is far from a truly exceptional service experience. I'd also sent these comments to the service director twice, and copies the general manager. No response. Sad and disappointing. More
