The manager told me that another customer had hit my car, and that I'd have to take up the claim with this customer. I informed him that I wasn't interested in confronting an unknown 3rd party, especially since I hadn't witnessed the accident, and wouldn't be able to make any assertion about what had happened. I reminded him that by taking possession of my car, his dealership had created a bailment which holds it accountable for damage that occurs. He insisted that there was nothing that he could do. Even if the manager is technically correct that his dealership was able to avoid creating a bailment, it's a pretty horrible way to treat a customer. The right response should have been, "We're sorry that your car was damaged while it was in our care. We'll have a loaner for you while we get your car fixed." They could have then taken up a claim with the person that hit my car afterwards. For what it's worth, I have spent about a hundred thousand dollars at this dealership over the past few years. More
My buying experience at Pearson was, by far, the best I've had. I was stationed in Iraq and wanted to buy a car over the internet or by phone so the car could be waiting for me with all accessories alre I've had. I was stationed in Iraq and wanted to buy a car over the internet or by phone so the car could be waiting for me with all accessories already installed when I returned; all I wanted to do was to sign paperwork and leave with my new car. The sales people I dealt with at other dealerships did not take me seriously and did not want to work the deal. When I emailed Pearson Honda, the experience was different. Barbara emailed me back right away, found out exactly what I wanted and then found the car for me. It was not at the dealership, but she found it for me. I followed up with a phone call just to reinforce the fact that I was serious about the deal. We discussed price and she agreed to my terms; it was a fair price. I was surprised to get any money off the next year's model when I bought my '07 Accord EX-L V6 w/ navigation and sports package in '06. Barbara took pictures of my new car, with the plastic still on it, and emailed them to me so I could see them in Iraq. When I got back and then arrived at the dealership, all of the people greeted me warmly. I met Barbara, drank some coffee in her office, test drove my car, did a walk-around with Barbara while she showed me all of the options, and then saw the finance guy to sign the paperwork. No pressure to buy extended warranty or other extraneous things; I was asked, but that was it. I drove out of there with the car I wanted. It was reasonably priced. I felt comfortable at the dealership. There was no waiting around while the salesman went to negotiate with his manager. I could have walked in and walked out with my car in less than an hour. I stayed as long as I did only because the ambience was comfortable and friendly. Of all of the places I've purchased cars, this is, by far, the best in customer service. The people there value our time. They don't play games. I highly suggest buying from this place, especially if Barbara is your sales person. If I'm still in Virginia or close to it when I buy my next car, I will definitely buy from there. More
We purchased a new 2006 Pdyssey from Pearson in Feb 2006. We had already picked out our options, color, and had a price we were willing to pay. Should be simple, right? Every other dealer we spoke with wanted to play games, or complain about how little we were offering, or complain about having to trade to get our color/option combo. Then my wife went into Pearson, presented our offer, and within 5 minutes had a great deal! Though it wasn't in stock at the time, they were able to deliver our van to us at 5:00 the next day! There wasn't the least bit of sniveling about our price. The van included pin stripes because the dealer they traded with always puts them on, but Pearson did not try to tack on any extra cost to us. The salesman had even used post-it paper to highlight key parts of the owners manual for our future reference! The finance/closing part of the sale took 10 minutes max. Very nice finance guy, no fake/gold chains. Low pressure on the add-ons like extended warranty (which we declined). This was by far our best car-buying experience, and every in-warranty service/repair encounter has been positive as well, with a prompt phone call afterward to ensure everything was fixed to our satisfaction. We've never been told, "No trouble found".... More
Bought a used Honda from Pearson in late 2006. Very positive experience. Salesman was very patient and entertained numerous test drives to make sure I found a car I liked. I always felt as thoug I wa positive experience. Salesman was very patient and entertained numerous test drives to make sure I found a car I liked. I always felt as thoug I was being treated fairly. The only taint to the experience was haggling on the price (a bit different from buying a brand new car, which is a bit of a commodity). I definitely feel I got a decent price, but didn't get a "steal" or anything. I've had the car one month now and it has proven to be a good one! The closing part of the deal was very pleasant and took only 10 minutes max. The Finance guy (Phil) was very courteous and knowledgeable. I could not be much happier with my car, and everyone at the dealership smiles and says "Hi" to me whenever I pop in to buy accessories or parts! More
