Pleasant experience buying a preowned Forester I recently found a 2014 Forester Limited with a very reasonable listing price on Patriot Subaru's website. I called and spoke with Salesman Rene Bour I recently found a 2014 Forester Limited with a very reasonable listing price on Patriot Subaru's website. I called and spoke with Salesman Rene Bournigal, who reviewed the history of this SUV in detail. Besides having a wonderful disposition and sense of humor, Rene is also straightforward and assuring, without exerting sales pressure. He willingly researched details of the service records to get answers to my questions. We met the next day and, after the test drive, I purchased it. I highly recommend that you connect with Rene if you're considering buying a new or preowned Subaru from Patriot. His fellow coworkers were also friendly and helpful, especially Sales managers Derek and Robert, and Max in Finance. FYI: Patriot's "Upfront Pricing" policy leaves little room for negotiation, but this Forester's listed price was below both KBB and Edmunds' retail value, and similar SUVs available at other dealerships. The most pleasent experience This review is months overdue, but that has nothing to do with the fabulous experience that I got at Patriot. I first visited at the end of April for This review is months overdue, but that has nothing to do with the fabulous experience that I got at Patriot. I first visited at the end of April for an investigative trip with my boyfriend. As soon as we made it clear that it was my car that we were looking for, I was central to the conversation. Seriously, I was asked about my priorities, what I wanted to look at, and my boyfriend got to be the arm candy. Later that day we went to another dealer and in one breath, the salesman mispronounced my name and suggested that I must be bored with the engine talk he was having with my boyfriend. I got spoiled at Patriot. On that first day, I went to Patriot because I saw that they had a manual Crosstrek and wanted to specifically try that. Even though the dealership was an hour away, the service on the first day ultimately made me buy my car through them. We were set up with Pat who got us in the car and asked what kind of drive I wanted (highway, or smaller roads). Since I wanted to test the transmission, I chose smaller roads. The test drive was 40 minutes of lovely winding roads that gave me an opportunity to get a feel for the clutch and handling. Pat was super chill, letting my boyfriend and I talk out the drive feel. He didn't try to sell me on the car at all, but readily supplied answers to all my questions. I was in my last semester of law school at the time and am naturally pretty high strung, so this was perfect. I certainly didn't expect to feel relaxed car shopping, but there you have it. Also, this level of service happened even though I had told them I wasn't ready to buy and simply wanted to try the manual. About two months later, remembering the amazing service I received and that amazing lifetime warranty, I was ready to buy. I contacted Pat again (who had been maintaining contact), looking for a manual Crosstrek, but in a different color. Turns out there were three in all of New England. Not only did they get one of those cars in for me, but every single member of the staff I encountered was unbelievable helpful, despite being a difficult customer (payment was coming from Florida, where the car was being registered, I could make very few trips to the dealer because I was in the midst of studying for the bar, and the pickup had to happen fairly quickly because I was planning on moving to DC in the next 4 weeks). I was in my new Crosstrek within a week of contacting Pat. Pat himself installed my roof racks and back seat protectors. Justin was very helpful in keeping everything organized between all of the moving pieces. Max handled the logistical puzzle I presented with aplomb. All three were professional, friendly, and just fun to chat with. They took my needs seriously, and the dealership was infused with this great humanity. My experience was excellent, and when the time comes for a new car (hopefully 200k miles away as it is a Subaru), I will try to return if I'm living anywhere in New England. They are that good. More
