Destination fee quote on used car I came by to test drive a used 2018 CR-V. The sales guy was super friendly and very thorough in explaining all the car features. I took the car for a I came by to test drive a used 2018 CR-V. The sales guy was super friendly and very thorough in explaining all the car features. I took the car for a test drive and really liked it. When I inquired about their fees, I was told that I had to pay a destination fee of $995 for this USED car in addition to their $499 doc fee. I asked like 3 times how that's possible because I thought I misheard the first time. A destination fee is what a manufacturer charges a dealership to ship a NEW car to its location. No dealership adds that to the sales price of a USED car. The sales guy also told me at first that he could not go down too much on the sales price, maybe a couple of $100. Once I pointed the final price was going to be way above my budget with this destination fee plus tax he suddenly dropped the sales price by $5000. Woah! This just seemed too good to be true. I knew at this point that he was going to pretend to waive that fictitious destination fee and make up for it by selling me all sorts of additions and quote me a high finance rate to bring it back closer to the original sales price. I really liked the car and would have bought it for a more straight forward price quote, but the destination fee and the strange huge price drop made me skeptical that I was going to get a good deal, so I walked away from this car. Too bad because the overall experience was otherwise very positive. So I would not NOT recommend them, but just be prepared for some serious price negotiations at this dealership. More
