We called Parkside Kia after deciding to not purchase a car at another dealership. We were purchasing from out of state and the team had the SUV we had seen online ready to go when we arrived. Sales, management and finance were all great in their effective and efficient servicing of our transaction. I especially appreciated their understanding that we were there to purchase a vehicle and not an additional five to ten other after-market items that they "knew we needed" like the dealership had played us the day before. The salesman that we ended up working with, Zach Spicer, after being handed off by another salesman, was great. We live 2 hours from the dealer and we found a car on their lot through cars.com that we were after being handed off by another salesman, was great. We live 2 hours from the dealer and we found a car on their lot through cars.com that we were interested in, so our first several interactions were by email. He emailed back and forth with us, answered our many questions, sent us a walk around video, explained the advantages of the certified pre-owned Kia program, informed us what was going on with the process, etc. We were looking at a 2022 Kia Niro EV that we thought should be eligible for a $4,000 used clean vehicle tax credit, but we were not certain. At first, Parkside Kia was not interested in working with us on the process of transferring the tax credit to the dealership so that we could take the credit as a discount at the time of purchase (they first told us to “check with our CPA”, then “we usually don’t transfer the tax rebate to the dealership at the time of purchase”, but when we made it clear that if they didn’t, they wouldn’t make the sale to us, they decided to work through the process. I think that they just hadn’t done it before, and were reluctant not being familiar with it. It actually took a few days for us to get a solid answer from them on whether the car was eligible for the credit and if they could/would handle the process of transferring the credit so they would get the $4,000 from the IRS, and we would get the discount. In the end, they handled it, we got the discount and drove away with a Niro EV with less than 12,000 miles on it. Hopefully, now that the person who handles the sales paperwork is familiar, they will be able to offer the service to other customers looking to be able to take immediate advantage of the used clean vehicle tax credit and set themselves apart from other dealers who won’t or don’t know how. When we went in to take a look and test drive, the steering wheel was off center and there was a small vibration at highway speed. I asked Zach if he would be able to send it back to the service department again and ensure that the problem would be taken care of before we made the purchase. He did, they found that the alignment was off, and when we came back with the $ to test drive it again and pick it up, Zach gave me a printout of the alignment paperwork showing before and after, on the second test drive, the steering wheel was centered, and the vibration was gone. I’m glad we worked with Zach. I very much appreciate his time, patience, effort to take care of us, and I’m glad he was able to make the sale. More
