Very deceptive sales tactics. Their written offer is full of hidden fees. NC law mandates that a dealer can not charge any fees (not required by law) related to the sale or lease of a motor vehicle unless those fees (including amount) are conspicuously listed in the dealership and are disclosed (including amounts) "whenever the dealer engages in the price advertising of vehicles." Not being able to find a disclosure of the amounts of any fees on their website or AutoTrader, I was unpleasantly surprised when the written offer was chalked full of hidden fees. Not to mention that the "Market Value" listed was $1000 more than the total new MSRP of the 5 year old car! The written offer I received had a mandatory $599 LoJack fee, a $789 doc fee, a $49 electronic filing fee, and a $1 temp plate fee. On top of that, they charged a $68 title fee when the SC title fee is $15 and the registration fee is $40. There is no disclosure as to what the $13 difference is for. After challenging the sales manager, Chris White, on the lack of disclosure, he gave me the attached photos as evidence that they comply with NC law and offered to reduce the price $50. He said the law prohibits waiving the doc fee (silent on the $68 title fee, or the LiJack fee) when, in fact, the law expressly allows the dealer, at its discretion, and I quote, "to decide not to charge an administrative, origination, documentary, procurement, or other similar administrative fee or reducing the amount of the fee in certain cases, as the dealer may deem appropriate." When called out again for his dishonesty, Chris White claimed, "as a multi-million dollar corporation, we would never subject ourselves to a discrimination claim - everyone gets the same prices and fees, every single time." I am so glad I did not drive all the way there to have to get up and walk out!! At least they saved me that trouble. More
