I had an unusual experience over the last couple of days...actually enjoyed the normally dreadful car-buying process. This was due to two dealerships and specifically two salesman that knew their stuff days...actually enjoyed the normally dreadful car-buying process. This was due to two dealerships and specifically two salesman that knew their stuff, were straight shooters (or they fooled me really well), and were friendly and fun to deal with. The first was with Al Sauter (214-366-5817; asauter@parkplace.com) of Park Place Jaguar of Plano. We... were looking for a slightly used VW EOS, a cool fancy hardtop convertible, and we knew from internet looking that they had one. He showed it to us and we really liked it. Without much effort we arrived at what we felt was a fair price.We left feeling fairly certain that we would take our trade-in the next day and make a deal. The second was with Chris Collins (972-407-7025; ccollins@parkplace.com) of Park Place Lexus, also in Plano. After leaving the Jaguar dealership, we stopped at the Lexus dealership on a whim because it was on the way home and we were curious about the small sporty Lexus that they discontinued a couple of years ago, also with a convertible hardtop. We drove one and decided it wasn't for us. He mentioned that they had 2 pre-owned Volvo C70's that also had the hardtop convertible, so we looked at them, drove one and really liked it as well as the VW EOS. Again, we got to within a few hundred dollars of what I felt was a good price. Since the dealership was about to close for the evening, we left having been assured that we would probably be able to close the gap the next day. After stopping at both dealerships the next day with our trade-in, getting a fair value from each, and arriving at a good "final deal" with each, we decided on the Volvo and are driving it happily ever after. The point of this post is to thank and applaud both of these two car salesmen. I haven't had the confidence and comfort dealing with the car buying experience for over 25 years when I used to buy from a guy named Bob (can't remember the last name now) at Doran Chevrolet on LBJ. Inquired on internet regarding used 2005 Lexus RX I saw on internet. Promptly recieved a call from dealership even though it was a Sunday at 8:00 pm and they were closed. Surprised me!
