I recently went in to buy a car and this is not my first time going there. I have had a great experiences with the service department and okay experiences with collision. However, I don’t think their sales department treat their customers the same. I was interested in buying a Mazda CX-5 and although they had none stock Tim said there were a few on the way and I could hold one like the guy before me by putting down a deposit. I was torn between buying another Mazda and Jeep Wrangler.Yes ,I know two different types of vehicles. However, I wanted to test drive a Jeep first before locking in the Mazda. After my test drive, I sent my sister to put down my deposit because I had to work. After traveling all the way back to dealership, Tim’s story changed. He wanted the deposit, my pre-qualification letter and to talk to my loan officer. When I was there he ask if I needed financing and I told him no and that I have a loan through my bank. he asked how much I qualified for which I wasn’t trying to tell him because we are in the middle of negotiations. Mind you , I haven’t even seen the car and they don’t currently have it. We didn’t start the paperwork or finalize the price . He just told me the msrp as if negotiations are over and there are no other numbers to consider. I never in my life heard of a salesperson wanting to talk to a loan officer before really selling the car or finishing the deal. I couldn’t help but wonder if he asked the caucasian guy before me to call his loan officer. Normally a prequalification letter would be enough and a down payment because don’t even know the final price. More
