Mr. Pena was very helpful and courteous. His knowledge of the vehicle was extensive and his approach to showing the operations of the vehicle was better than perfect! She also spent many hours with different insurance companies on the phone to help get my father a better rate on his insurance (something she did not have to do at all). From the moment I met her at the receptionist desk to the moment I left with my new Honda Civic the following day, Rosa Diaz was literally a breath of fresh air. I went back to bring her flowers and cookies for everyone else because she really made me feel wonderful about my purchase. I went to paragon honda on June 12, 2010 to purchase a Certified 2008 Honda CR-V EX-L. We paid 21,500 dollars for the vehicle, and put down 2,000. Everything was fine until we went to Mr. Alan D. Gensler Certified 2008 Honda CR-V EX-L. We paid 21,500 dollars for the vehicle, and put down 2,000. Everything was fine until we went to Mr. Alan D. Gensler's office, the Finance Manager. He said right away, "I was looking at her financials and I have two options for her. Number one; she qualified for a 12% interest rate, for 60 months, that will bring her monthly payment to 582 a month." Then I asked. "So, what is option two?" He then said, "let me explain." If you add the Honda Care Warranty and the protection program I can lower your interest rate to 8%. The total package will cost you 6,300 dollars, but your monthly payments will be 572 a month now." I asked him, "Do you have to buy a warranty package to lower your interest rate?" Mr. Alan D. Gensler went on by saying; "When you finance this vehicle through Honda Finance, by getting a warranty on the vehicle, the bank is protecting its investment on this vehicle, because if anything happens to this vehicle the bank is getting what you owe on the car back, not just the value the inssurance company is going to pay." He then said: "You get the car without the warranty and your interest will be 12% and pay $582 per month. But if you include the warranty, your interest will go down to 8% and your payment will be 572 per month." We agreed to option two and signed the contract. When I got home I used a payment calculator for my scenario. I entered vehicle price $21,500-2,000 down payment with sales tax of 7% (NJ), plus interest, at 12% interest rate for 60 months,the total monthly payment would be $467.24 a month. so where did Mr. Alan D. Gensler come up with 582 per month? I went back to the dealership on Monday June 14, 2010 to speak to Mr. Alan D. Gesler. I demanded him to cancel the warranty package which I'm entitled to cancel at anytime. He then stated; "But you can not keep the 8% rate that I gave you." I said to him that I did my research and found out that it was all a scam for him to make me buy the warranty and four extra items for a Lojack that I didn't even know was optional. I told him that it was a scam, that I spoke to several friends that work at auto dealers and they advised me I was scamed. I also got in contact with Honda Finance department and they told me they were not aware of such program. Mr. Alan D. Gensler then said: "Yes I can and your friends are dead wrong. As paragon Honda we are here to make a profit on products that we sell and if it includes lowering the interest so you can buy it, then we'll do it." Then I asked Mr Alan D. Gensler. "So what is her credit score?" And he responded. "Do you think her credit score has anything to do with her interest rate?" Mr. Alan D. Gensler never backed down even when I was 100% right. He insisted that he had the right to do everythng he had to do. I will never recommend anyone to Paragon Honda. More
I did all the research online, and then finally decided to bite the bullet and physically go to the dealership - something I was not really looking forward to. I was met immediately by Joel at the door, with a great courteous attitude and a willingness to please. He took us to the car we were interested in and basically stepped back, giving us (my wife and 2/1/2 year old daughter) room to look at and experience the car on our own. We then took the car for a test drive and before you knew it we were crunching numbers - all the while with a straight forward, no pressure attitude. I told him the numbers I wanted to make it happen and he came back with an offer I couldn't refuse. Onto the next step, which I was dreading - the financing department - this is usually when the 'deal' goes south. I couldn't be more wrong if I had tried! The financing gentleman worked very hard to make the deal happen with the numbers I had already worked out with Joel. A couple of small hurdles were jumped and ironed out on the spot. The last step was with Rachel, who walked me through all the great technical features of the car. We couldn't be happier with our first brand new car buying experience.We will be recommending Paragon Honda to all of our friends and family. More
