This company preaches outstanding customer service but just want to make the sale and hope they never hear from you again. Based on the fallout of my transaction this operation does not operate on the level. On October 24, 2011 I bought a car from Autofinders in Bensalem PA (1515 Bristol Pike | Bensalem, PA 19020 | 215-633-0157) for a 2006 Chevrolet Impala LTZ. On 11/2/2011 I reported the possibility of a coolant leak because the engine was beginning to overheat. They advised the limited 30 day warranty wouldn’t cover it. I contested it should but my emails and calls went unanswered. On December 2, 2011 I sent them another email advising that the driver side window regulator malfunctioned and the engine was showing signs of overheating as the temperature would raise and the check engine light would go on and off intermittently. I also let them know that the tires on the car never would have passed inspection where the car had a NEW (September 2012) inspection sticker on it. I implored them to do the right thing and cover these repairs as the transaction was only 39 days old. Again, my concerns went unanswered. On December 19, 2011 I reached out again regarding these issues as my concerns over the car passing inspection had been confirmed. I had reached out to a tire and auto center for a safety inspection ($54 my cost) as I was truly afraid to drive the car on the road. The tire and auto center findings are as follows: • Tire tread wear checked and all 4 tires require replacement • Needs left front window regulator • Check engine light on; checked cooling system for overheat concern. No leaks found but underside of car has coolant running down all over it; potential issue with thermostat. • Rear Right muffler has a hole in it 12" in circumference that cannot be patched, needs replacing from converter back to tailpipe. Autofinders responded that they would look into making the repairs but I would be responsible for paying for the required parts. Even with paying retail prices for these repairs it would cost me at minimum $1,600 or more with parts and labor. The bottom line is I was sold a car with a new inspection sticker that clearly could not pass inspection based on these findings. I have only had the car 57 days at that point which would be impossible to have all these problems occur other than the window regulator. I advised them that the window regulator concern could be forgone as that can be considered wear and tear. I insisted that they please make whatever repairs (exhaust, tires, and engine cooling system) are required for it to pass a state inspection because I was only asking for what I paid for, a vehicle that passed state inspection and emissions. I advised them that inspection sticker was placed on the car certifying the car is safe to drive when it clearly is not. I even highlighted the items that pertain to my vehicle. Per the Pennsylvania DMV: What are the inspection criteria for passenger cars and light duty trucks? Top Safety inspections for passenger cars and light-duty trucks require that the following items be checked: suspension components, steering, braking systems, tires and wheels, lighting and electrical systems, glazing (glass), mirrors, windshield washer, defroster, wipers, fuel systems, the speedometer, the odometer, the exhaust systems, horns and warning devices, the body, and chassis. For most vehicles in the 42 county, Non-I/M region this safety inspection will also include a Visual Anti-Tampering Check. The Visual Anti-Tampering Check is an examination of the vehicle to see if the required emissions components have been tampered with or removed. For more information concerning the 42 County Visual Anti-Tampering Check please reference Section 175.80 ofSubchapter E, of the Vehicle Equipment and Inspection Regulations. For a complete list of the rejection criteria for passenger cars and light duty trucks, please visit Subchapter E of the Vehicle Equipment and Inspection Regulations. Autofinders did not reply any further to my concerns at that point. So, on December 29, 2011 I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against AutoFinders. The complaint was assigned ID 8862000 which was sent to the business to respond. Since AutoFinders neglected to respond I reached out to the service station (www.z-brothers.net), on December 28, 2011, who is the outsourced service center for AutoFinders detailing the above scenario regarding the suspect inspection as well as their warranty policy hoping I would get closer to a resolution. They responded on December 28, 2011 advising they need to have the car at their disposal to check my problems before making any decisions. On January 6, 2012 I brought the vehicle to Z-Brothers to see what resolution could be done. They advised they would wait to hear from AutoFinders to see what repairs would be covered. AutoFinders got in touch with Z-Brothers advising they would only replace 2 of the tires, not address the engine issue or regulator but would replace the muffler. As of January 11, 2012 the previously mentioned work (2 tires & muffler replaced) had been completed confirming their admission they sold a car that couldn’t pass inspection. On January 16, 2012 I attempted to trade in this car as the entire experience has been horrific and I’m still not feeling 100% safe in the car. I took the car to a dealer to get the car appraised by their appraiser and adjusters. What happened next only confirms my suspicions that AutoFinders is not operating on the level. The dealership pulled a CarFax report which stated that during the history of this vehicle the odometer had been rolled back nearly 30,000 miles. Although it does not indicate that AutoFinders rolled it back, my recourse is with them since they sold me the car. I carefully reviewed my odometer statement making sure I didn’t sign the car as TMU (true mileage unknown) and confirmed I have not. I reported this to Autofinders indicating they may not know of this and should get in touch with the party where they purchased the vehicle. I advised I needed them to take the car back so they can work it out with that party and nullify our transaction. January 20, 2012 I called and spoke with the two service centers where the mileage discrepancy was indicated. Both service centers orally confirmed the mileage they reported as accurate. On January 20, 2012 I spoke on the phone with AutoFinders about the status of this issue which they responded that their information stated different information and will not discuss the matter further. Later, I sent them an email advising my disappointment and dissatisfaction and that I would be filing a complaint with the local police, local media, PennDot (DMV), Pennsylvania Attorney General. I have all written correspondence as well as other vehicle service records. More
