I was very specific about what the terms of the other dealership's offer was. I was told, "We will definitely match that True Car quote." I went in and found nothing but chaos. The salesperson had written his notes on a piece of paper that he had stuffed into a drawer with piles of other paper. When he did finally did find proof of his commitment to me (which the sales manager intimated didn't exist at all as if I had made it up), there ensued over an entire hour's worth of haggling that was unparalleled in my contract negotiation experience. Not only did the salesman and sales manager tag team each other, each trying to renegotiate the original terms, but stooped so low as to create a bid sheet on which they added a thousand dollars "by accident." Their tactics were literally criminal. We left the dealership after it became clear that there was no way they were going to honor their commitment, went to their parking lot, called the Ourisman VW dealership in Bethesda, had the MOST wonderful conversation with Matt, their internet sales manager, drove in and just over one hour later drove out with the car that we wanted, at a fair and reasonable price. Do not, do not, do not, go to Ourisman in Rockville. Drive 5 miles south and go to the dealership in Bethesda. There is no place, in this day and age, for scams, hijinks, manipulation, and flat out deception when buying a car. More

I presented a difficult situation as I wanted to get a 4-door GTI in stick not realizing that practically the entire eastern seaboard does not have on in stock. Jimmy, however, worked tirelessly to find one for me, and he kept me updated the entire time to make sure I knew what was going on. The day the car finally arrived, Jimmy gave me a thorough run-down of what the car was cable of doing; something that he and everyone else at Ourisman consistently did: Inform me of every detail every step of the way. Juan Echeandia also made everything with the financing easy and painless-something of a rarity when dealing with people in that area.
