These systems freeze constantly and neither Matt Slap or Subaru will fix them. This review regards the service and management, the sales team was a pleasure to work with. We purchased a new ’21 Outback Onyx XT this summer after test driving several cars, we liked the car so much we ordered another ’22 Outback Wilderness as soon as they started taking deposits. The ’21 would be used for work travel, and one of the main reasons we purchased this car was the 11.6” Starlink Touchscreen for use with our Apple CarPlay. We depend on Nav, the ability to text via voice and hands free phone calls while traveling. Immediately the screen started to shut off, reboot and cease to function. This also turns off the Eyesight, rear automatic braking - both very important safety features. This happened many times while on the highway using the navigation, causing us to miss exits, spend 10 minutes each time trying to reboot the system and reconnect Apple CarPlay. When I spoke to an associate, they knew exactly what issue I was having- they practically finished my sentence. They know these systems fail and yet still sell the cars without warning buyers about the issues with Starlink and CarPlay. We took it to Matt Slap first time and they ‘flashed the system’ but failed to fix the issue. We took it in again and the same result. They ‘didn’t have a solution’ and blamed the manufacturer. The third time they had the car was to ‘put it in dealer mode’ and install the 480 watt stereo upgrade, a part that took them two months to get (that I could have had overnighted to my house at any time…) After explicit instructions on how to contact us, they repeatedly called the wrong number and when they finally interrupted our dinner with the correct number they asked what they should do with the amplifier. (I asked them to install it, as that was why the car was there). Still ‘could not replicate’ the screen error, and did not fix the issue. When I picked my car up the next day, it was filthy. The screen was covered in greasy fingerprints, there was trash on the floor and while we were cleaning the car we found tools under the drivers seat. Our ’21 and ’22 are on the same software build, with the same system- and only the ’21 has constant failures. Only one of our cars suffers these issues, so I have a difficult time accepting that it is a ‘software’ or ‘firmware’ issue. It’s a faulty CCU and they will not replace it. After several calls to corporate, endless emails and threads on SubaruOutback.org it is very clear that many owners have the same issue and Subaru has known about this for a long time. There have been class action lawsuits about the Starlink System. They know these units fail a lot- and still sell them and refuse to fix the issue. All we’ve asked of them is to give us the features we paid for, and they can’t be bothered to find a solution. We are trying another Subaru dealer’s service team and hope they can actually make the system work, we will not be bringing any of our cars back to Matt Slap. More

Have you ever been to a Car Dealership and everyone was genuinely nice? And competent? It turned out that I needed to spend $500 more than expected to service my brakelines and All-Wheel Drive. I had boug genuinely nice? And competent? It turned out that I needed to spend $500 more than expected to service my brakelines and All-Wheel Drive. I had bought my car as certified pre-owned in New York and they did not do everything they should have done. Clearly, they should have done the service I just had to pay for. Thank God this dealership stepped in, told me what would be in best interest to maintain my car over the long-term, and the price was reasonable. I'll probably buy an Electric vehicle from them when the time comes. More
