I had been shopping around for a vehicle and happened to stop in one day to check out an Accord when Dante greeted me. He took time to listen to what I was looking for and showed me a few options. Most car salesmen have that "stigma" about them being quick and looking for a fast sale. Dante was patient. I felt very comfortable with him and did not feel rushed. He sold me on the car the 1st test drive I took but I wasn't quite ready to make a decision. I shopped around for a few more weeks liked several other cars but honestly did not like that way I was treated at any other area dealership. I have been working in customer service since I was 16 and feel if the customer service is below average when trying to buy a vehicle then my future dealings with car issues would be even worse. I decided to go back to Dante and see what was available. The car he sold me is exactly what I wanted & it was competitively priced. From the 1st day I had a great experience, to signing the papers the financial Manager (Mike?) took time to answer all of my questions (& it was late on New Years Eve). I felt comfortable with my decision & Dante followed through with everything as promised. It is important to give credit when & where it is due. People usually have no problem writing a bad review when they are angry but its nice to have positive feedback too.I will highly recommend him and the dealership to anyone I know looking for a vehicle. I would like to give much needed kudos to Mr. Ron Bergeron, who was the sales rep who helped us pick out our new Honda Civic EX. This is the 3rd car we have purchased from Shockley Honda, and all 3 c Bergeron, who was the sales rep who helped us pick out our new Honda Civic EX. This is the 3rd car we have purchased from Shockley Honda, and all 3 cars I used Ron as my sales person. He is extremely professional and very knowledgeable on all the Honda products. When we did decide he worked with us to get a great price. He explained how everything worked so I felt confident in driving off in our new Pilot. He also took us on a tour of the dealership and introduced us to the people in service too. The reason we went to this dealership was because of the great service we received when we had a second hand vehicle purchased from Shockley. Even though it was second-hand and an older model we received first rate treatment when we had to have it towed in. They didn't find any thing wrong with it (probably bad gas. They checked it out, washed it and had it ready for me when I got off work and they didn't charge a thing to do it. That is why our search for a new vehicle began with Shockley Honda. More

I specif 1. I let Bill, the salesman, know I would be shipping the car to Saudi Arabia soon and wanted to make sure it was mechanically in good shape. I specifically asked about the timing belt, brakes, and transmission. The differential service and battery service were listed on the car fax report. Bill asked for Steve Trimble’s input on this information and Steve agreed to check with the mechanics. He came back and reported that the transmission fluid would be replaced, the brakes were good, and that the timing belt could not be inspected as it was internal to the engine. I asked him if there was a computer read out from the maintenance minder system, or an exterior inspection that could give me an idea of if it had been replaced or would soon need to be replaced. Steve said that it is not possible to know the condition of the belt without disassembling a large portion of the engine (water pump, pulleys, belts, etc). I asked him what the standard milestone is for replacement in terms of miles or years. Steve did not know and did not ask the technicians. I sensed he was irritated with my continued questioning and wasn’t interested in researching the issue with the mechanics. I asked for a second opinion at another Honda dealership one week later. The mechanic there pointed out a small leak visible from the base of the tensioner bolt advising it was a sign the bolt and belt are reaching their maximum life expectancy. I asked him if there is a standard for replacing timing belts and he said between 60,000 and 90,000 miles and that delayed repair could result in complete engine failure. I found this same recommendation on Honda’s website (ahm-ownerlink). 2. The two front suspension brackets had cracked seals with black fluid leaking from them. The driver’s side shock assembly was bad. The total repairs for the two items above was over $2,500. I asked Shockley to reimburse me their costs only for these repairs and received no response. 3. The car was not ready for sale. I called at 9am the day I purchased the car and was advised the car was on the lot and had not been sold. It was listed on the dealer’s website three days prior to my call. I arrived at 1:30pm and the car was not ready until 7:30pm. 4. “New” tires were installed to pass Maryland inspection. Shockley installed off brand tires over five years old (I should have checked the date before driving an hour home). Standard warranty for tires is six years so I’ll probably end up sinking another $500 in this vehicle over the next few months. More

In the 10 or so cars I've bought in my lifetime, my recent purchase of a new Honda Odyssey at Shockley Honda was by far the most pleasant. Take this for example, both my wife and I are deaf and basically communicate in sign language. Neither my sales rep, Jonathan Price, nor the finance manager, Shawn Bowders, knew sign language. Yet they were able to efficiently communicate with us by writing and using gestures, and got us out driving a new Odyssey in around 2 hours. In the past, I've always left a auto dealership feeling that maybe I over paid, or didn't get something I should have got. Not this time. I feel that both of the guys I worked with explained things sufficiently and the prices they offered the car for was about what I expected. Everybody at Shockley seemed to be very friendly and nice to the customers who came in. More
