My wife and I recently went to Shockley Honda to shop for a Honda Accord (on 8/3/2013). We had heard many good reviews of the dealership, and thought we would give them a shot. When we arrived, our intent a Honda Accord (on 8/3/2013). We had heard many good reviews of the dealership, and thought we would give them a shot. When we arrived, our intention initially was to try to purchase a fairly recent used (or "previously owned") Accord. When we started looking at them, a young sales associate came out and asked if he could help. I told him I had seen a 2011 Accord online, and he looked up which one it was. He showed us the car, then went inside and got the keys for it. When he came back out, we found out that the battery was dead. He then got the appropriate equipment and jumped it. He then told us to give it a test drive and went back inside. After adjusting the seat, mirrors, etc. and getting familiar with the car, I then noticed the gas gauge was on empty. I had to then walk to the showroom to try to find him (while 3 employees sat outside the front door watching me from the comfort of a golf cart and didn't offer any assistance). I tracked him down, then he rode with us across the street to gas the car up. We then started out test drive. After a few minutes, we wanted to see if the radio would drown out the road noise we were experiencing, and lo and behold, the radio wouldn't work due to the battery being drained. Perfect! Fortunately, we own other Hondas and were able to find the radio code in the car and enter it into the system, but we shouldn't have had to. A good sales associate would have made sure the car had gas and the radio (and any other system) was operating before letting the car off of the lot for a test drive. After that, we decided we wanted to consider the 2013 Accord. After a successful test drive of that vehicle, we went inside to try to negotiate a price. The associate made us an offer (lower than the sticker), and we countered with what we thought was a reasonable price. He then started playing the "let me check with my sales manager" game. He came back accompanied by his sales manager, and she told us our price was ridiculously low. She then tried to pressure us by saying "If I can get you price X, then will you buy the car today?" Since X was higher than our price, we said no (and X was only $200 over our "ridiculously low price"). She then asked "are you really willing to walk away over $200?" We turned it around and asked her is she was willing to lose a sale over $200. She said yes, so we walked. After getting home, we did our homework a bit more and found out that our offer was actually too high. We wound up buying the same car the next day from a different dealer (for that experience, check my other review) at a far lower price than our ridiculous offer at Shockley. In a way, they did us a favor since we would have overspent by $600-$800 depending on which offer you compare with. One other thing I found out after I had purchased the vehicle at a different dealer is that the sales associate gave me several incorrect facts about the 2013 Accord. He told us that all of the Accords have adaptive speed control, where it is only available on the Touring model. He also told us that the car comes with a separate actual key in addition to the FOB. I then asked him what the black switch on the FOB was for, and he said that was how you get to the battery. The only key, in fact, is in the FOB (a valet key) which is released by the black switch. There were a couple of other incorrect facts that he told us as well. The point its, as a sales associate, it is your job to know every car that is sold from the delear from bumper to bumper. No excuses. I am very surprised by this experience at Shockley Honda. I normally don't like writing negative reviews, but I feel that I needed to share this. I have left names out so that the Shockley employees that we dealt with don't suffer any repercussions, but the dealership should know what we went through. Living in the area that we are in, there are 4 different Honda dealers within reasonable driving distance. I would think that a family-run business like Shockley would be competitive (in sales and service) with these other closely located dealers, but from my one experience, I found that not to be the case. Even with no appointment on a Thursday afternoon, all was taken care of - oil change, check all points, had transmission oil changed, car washed wonderfully, ready for the long week of a driving vacation and taken care of - oil change, check all points, had transmission oil changed, car washed wonderfully, ready for the long week of a driving vacation and out of the dealership in no time. Great place, caught up on the History Channel and charged my cell phone while there. Love it! More
I will begin by saying RUN, don't walk to buy your next car at Shockley! If you want to know why, keep reading. I started my search for a new car in December, 2012 and decided on a Honda Accord in Sa next car at Shockley! If you want to know why, keep reading. I started my search for a new car in December, 2012 and decided on a Honda Accord in San Marino Red with a V-6 engine. I did the dealer search in my area, Bethesda, then widened it to Baltimore and Richmond. The color with that engine was limited. I sent emails of interest, met with a few dealers and each one did something wrong - didn't know enough about the car, one had the car on their website but when I went there, was told his manager was driving it and no longer available. Made one appointment with a salesman and got there to find he was on vacation! Then I found Jonathan at Shockley. He responded promptly and I drove up to Frederick. It was worth it. He was smart, knew EVERYTHING, polite and, despite that I didn't have any of the paperwork he needed (another story for another day), was able to close a deal! My biggest compromise was getting the 4 cylinder engine, but Jon had enough knowledge to explain to me why it was not a compromise at all! He answered all my questions, took the time to show me all the technology features. My past experiences buying cars have been as stressful as anything I have ever had to do. I will never buy another car anywhere else! Frederick is 30 miles from my home, but given the experience I had buying my car, I have decided that I will go there for service. More

When she picked up the car the check engine light AND the air bag light were on, but they were not on when we brought the car in. They informed her the air bag sensor was bad and would cost $170 to fix it. What I wanted to understand is why it came in with NO service lights on, yet miraculously left with 2 on. I firmly believe they saw a young woman and took advantage, trying to get more money. The manager was rude and unhelpful when I spoke to him as well. He felt all I was after was free service. I would not take this car back there if my life depended on it. All I ever wanted was to understand WHY or WHAT they did to cause these lights to come on. I wanted them to admit this was their fault instead of implying we were the bad guys here. I asked for him to talk with the mechanic and call me back to help me understand what happened to cause the lights to go on, yet I never got that return call. The lack of professionalism and integrity in this service department is unprecedented. For the Honda name, I was more than disappointed. More

Jonathan has sold me two cars over the past two years. We came back a second time due to his honestly, work ethic, and integrity. Also, the whole Shockley team is comfortable to be around. came back a second time due to his honestly, work ethic, and integrity. Also, the whole Shockley team is comfortable to be around. More
I recently purchased a 2013 Honda Fit from Shockley at a great price of under MSRP. Jonathan understood that I wanted to purchase the car under the soon-to-be-ending Honda financing offer and got the exact great price of under MSRP. Jonathan understood that I wanted to purchase the car under the soon-to-be-ending Honda financing offer and got the exact car I wanted, from another dealership in fact, in just under 48 hours! I had a wonderful car buying experience and expect the same for all of my regular service from the friendly staff. More
I bought a 2013 Accord in Feb 2013.... Had an excellent experience....Great price, great overall buying transaction. Sales person was Ashley Saculles who is just great to deal with.... Ashley is the r experience....Great price, great overall buying transaction. Sales person was Ashley Saculles who is just great to deal with.... Ashley is the reason why I bought the car at this dealership. I negotiated everything on the phone/email......arrvived at 3pm and was home with a new car before dinner time. I shopped Camry vs Accord.... I have owned Honda, Toyota, and Ford in the past. I contacted over 10 dealers and had quotes from most...Visited 4-5 dealers.....most were ok...nice facilities (compared to Toyota Dealers..some being just plain ugly). Accord won... I got down to 3 Honda Dealers.....and decided that I would not buy from a local dealer...would take the 50 mile drive to buy from Shockley....100% worth it. Have to say once again.....Shockley is a real nice dealer...and Ashley is perhaps the best sales person I have dealt with in many many years.... More
The entire purchase experience at Shockley Honda was positive. I am the third on my block to get a Honda Pilot from Shockley Honda. There must be a reason for that. positive. I am the third on my block to get a Honda Pilot from Shockley Honda. There must be a reason for that. More
