Came in for dead battery - left with huge bill! I had an appointment because my battery was not holding a charge. I was 95% certain that it was only the battery, but thought I would also get an oil I had an appointment because my battery was not holding a charge. I was 95% certain that it was only the battery, but thought I would also get an oil change while I was at it. I left with a bill of over $1,000! Wow is all I can say. 1. The cost of the new battery was way above normal cost. I know that a dealer marks up these costs, but I could have taken my car to Advance Auto, bought the new battery and they would have installed it for around $150. I paid $421 to "test" and install the battery. 2. I was told that I needed both an alignment and tire rotation/balance. I can accept that an alignment might have been necessary. But, I have NEVER paid for tire rotation/balance. My last two car dealers, a Hyundai and a Saturn, never charged for this service, so that was another $90 that I don't feel I should have been charged. 3. I was told that it was necessary to have a fuel induction service. I did question this as I only have 20,000 miles on my Jeep but was told that if I didn't get it done, serious damage could occur to the engine. Upon further investigation, it appears that this wasn't really a necessary service so I paid another $223 for something that I didn't really need, as I wasn't have any problems at all. 4. $86 to replace an air filter?? Josue, who took care of my car, did a good job of lowering my bill slightly, and he was very kind and courteous. With that said, I do feel like I was "upsold" services that I really didn't need, and frankly, I'm furious about it. I do have other options. I'm not tied to bringing my car to Ourisman. There are other Jeep dealers in the area, as well as other specialty shops that would gladly take my business. I'm really disappointed in this and will be considering other options the next time my car needs service. More
