In early November 2023, I spoke to Buster at Ourisman Chevrolet in Rockville, MD and I asked him if he had an allocation for a 2024 Colorado, that I'm motivated to purchase, but will pay no more than $50 Chevrolet in Rockville, MD and I asked him if he had an allocation for a 2024 Colorado, that I'm motivated to purchase, but will pay no more than $500 under MSRP. He said that would work and he put me in touch with a salesman named Reggie Wilkinson. I received a message from Reggie on 11/10/23 and I sent him the build specifications. He confirmed receipt of my specs and said he would be back in touch with a deposit amount and availability date of my order. On 11/30/23, Reggie confirmed my vehicle had been ordered and provided me with a copy of the order details. For the next couple of months Reggie and I exchanged email updates regularly. On 2/23/24, Reggie informed me that my vehicle had been built and there was a good chance of it arriving soon. He then sent another email as follows: "It has been so long since we have been waiting but I cannot recall how we ended up connected? The truck is available to secure relative to making the deal prior to its arrival or you can take the chance and wait until it arrives to make the deal. I would hate for us to have been waiting this long and someone comes in who is willing to wait for its arrival and just simply secure the truck by signing contracts. It is up to you, just let me know!" I replied to Reggie that a deal was already made - $500 under MSRP. I also disclosed that I was a former indirect loan officer that I did auto lending and floor plan lines of credit for dealers and that I'm not going to play any salesman games. I also told him that another dealer contacted me that I spoke to previously and they have an allocation ready, and they will cement a deal for me today. He replied on 2/24/2024 "No worries. We will work it out. I will follow up on Monday." I informed Reggie that we needed a deal done by Tuesday morning 2/27 at 9 AM or I'm out. I never heard from Reggie again until 3/5/2024 when he contacted me to say that “the truck I had ordered is arriving today and the manager I spoke to back in November is no longer at Ourisman. The management team has agreed to sell me the truck at sticker price.” First, this dealer made a deal with me and it’s irrelevant if the manager is no longer there. Any respectable dealer would continue to honor the deal that was made. Second, the salesman tried to play games with me when he found out my vehicle was built by telling me that I needed to urgently make a deal to keep someone else from coming in and buying the vehicle out from under me despite me already having a deal. The fact that the vehicle was ordered to my exact specifications confirms a deal was already made. Luckily, I was able to get an allocation from a competitor and they agreed to my terms and price in writing. There was no drama and although I have to wait a little longer, I will be receiving what I had originally ordered, even at a better price. As for Ourisman and Reggie Wilkinson, you can’t trust either of them. Do yourself a huge favor and buy your next vehicle from a reputable dealer with integrity. More
My experience was not a positive one, but it wasn't as bad as someone I know. His experience was that no one knew whether the car was on the lot or not (one salesperson said yes, one said no.) He stopped bad as someone I know. His experience was that no one knew whether the car was on the lot or not (one salesperson said yes, one said no.) He stopped by but was told that the vehicle wasn't MD State Inspected, so a test drive wasn't possible. After leaving, a different salesperson called to say that yes it was possible, so he returned only to have a third person say that the car was sold. It sounded unbelievably disorganized and chaotic. I wanted to look at a used car listed on their site. There was likewise confusion among the salespeople as to whether the vehicle was there or not. After going in, I was told it was not available which wasted some of my valuable car-hunting time, and should have been prevented by removing the vehicle's listing. At least everyone was nice to me. I'll average my three-star experience with my colleague's one-star experience and give them two stars. If you're thinking about a used car from Ourisman Chevrolet of Rockville, my advice is to call ahead, make sure the vehicle is really there, and then hope and pray that the salesperson is correct if you decide to go in.
