We have not had an 06 Ford Ranger for sale for over three months so I'm not sure if you have the correct dealer. Also, I don't know who you are as you did not indicate your name. However, to address your concern, a check engine light along with a ticking sound can be something minor or major. We explain this to customers when they are trading a vehicle with a check engine light on. Most often we provide two trade in values, one with the issue being repaired so that Oracle Ford knows there are no remaining engine concerns and the other "as is." We advise our customers to have their vehicle diagnosed from a Certified ASE or Franchise Dealer so that he or she understands the estimated cost of repair, BEFORE trading. This way, as in your case, you can get the highest possible trade allowance because the dealer will not have to be concerned with a possible engine repair that may exceed the value of your trade-in.

As soon as I did find out about this complaint on this website, I checked our records for customers with the last name of Dumass and could find no records with that last name, nor could I recall such a conversation.
