This was by far a terrible purchasing experience. I looked at and drove the vehicle. I agreed to move forward with a purchase. The salesman told me that internet pricing is firm...no negotiation. Ok! I told them I wanted to trade my vehicle. They came back with a dollar amount printout of how much they can get at auction for my vehicle. They offered 2200.00 less than what they say they can get at auction. I ask for 700.00 more. I offer a cash deal on the purchase. The salesman tells me they don't want a cash deal, if I finance they'll make about 2000.00 bonus from the finance company. They offer 500.00 more on the trade only if I finance. I said no, I prefer to write a check. They then come to me with 29,900.00 out the door after trade value. The vehicle I was purchasing was 28,700.00. I tell them 28,700.00 plus 7000.00 for the trade equals 35,700.00. The 28,700.00 vehicle does not have taxes and cost totaling 35,700.00. I ask to see their figures. The salesman then shows me their worksheet. It had like 385.00 for documentation fees, around 350.00 for license transfer cost, but then 795.00 for window etching and nitrogen in tires AND roughly 4100.00 for delivery and preparation. The old bait and switch. I didn't want etching and nitrogen...they said it was already done. I told them that the cost for delivery and prep was outrageous and I pass on the deal. Right away they scratch the nitrogen and etching cost of 795.00. I still pass. They then reduce the delivery and prep fee to 1500.00 but reduce the trade value by 500.00 if I don't finance. I had personal family emergency issues going on and I was receiving phone calls that were distracting me. It was close to 1000pm and we were still working out a deal. I drove 90 minutes to look at and purchase the vehicle. I relented and financed. I went with the intent of purchasing the vehicle. They take time messing with their deal sheet to reflect our 26,500.00 out the door including taxes, license and fee's. When their sheet is done the vehicle price, the trade amount and the fees are all changed but the total still comes to 26,500.00 out the door. My point is that they took about 3 hours trying to all but steal from me. It was a very unethical transaction and I let them know it. I told them if they advertise the vehicle for 28,700.00 with no negotiation and they then try to silently sneak 5000.00 in services and fees then just list the vehicle for the 33,700.00 their attempting to manipulate and get. They didn't show me any of the numbers until I did the math and insisted. 28,700.00 minus 7000.00 for the trade is 21,700.00. Then add taxes, license and delivery and you are closer to 26000.00 because of a 1500.00 prep and delivery fee. I would have never known about the 5000.00 if I didn't do my own math. They tried to put a verbal number in front of me and sell it as license and taxes. Very very deceptive practice. Financing goes through Capital One. I'll be informing them that the dealership insisted I finance and let them earn their 2000.00 or there about finance bonus. They gave me the extra 500.00 on the trade telling me to make 3 payments so the loan last 3 months. Pay 23,500.00 the first month, and 1500.00 the second and third months plus whatever interest the loan costs for those 3 months. The whole transaction was about them....not the customer. I will not do business with them again. By the way, the etching was not already done nor was the nitrogen and they still aren't done because I didn't want it. Had I went with their numbers, they would have done it and continued to act like it was done before I looked at the vehicle. I have since discovered via BBB Btter Business Bureau complaints for Old Orchard Nissan that the financing gimmick is a common complaint. Forced financing is cited many times in the complaints.
