BUYER BEWARE Found a 2015 Mercedes I liked, 7 hours away, so I called and told them I would pick it up on the weekend. Sales guy wanted me to pick it up the next Found a 2015 Mercedes I liked, 7 hours away, so I called and told them I would pick it up on the weekend. Sales guy wanted me to pick it up the next day, on a Thursday, so he could get this sale to meet his quota for the month. I have also sold cars so obliged to his request requiring me to take 2 days off work. I drove the 7 hours test drove the car around 2 city blocks, liked it, and didn’t haggle them 1 penny on the price. I wrote a check in full for the exact asking price of $19,695. I was driving it home and didn’t get out of Chicago 2 hours away from where I bought it and the check engine light come on. I made it home without issue. The sales guy called the next morning and I explained that the engine light come and his reply was “you did read the warranty info on this car, right?” This car was sold without a warranty. I knew this going into it but one would have to assume A. That I am not going to have an issue with a 2 year old Mercedes Benz and B. if you DIDN’T MAKE IT HOME WITH THE CAR before you had an issue that they would take care of it, right? They told me to schedule it with my “local” Mercedes dealership 1.5 hours away, which I did. This required me to go up on a weekday in which I had to take another day off work. The problem was going to cost me $1200.00. I didn’t own the car for 2 hours, nor made it home with the car and already I’m in $1200.00 plus the $350.00 to have diags run on the car. After days of calling the sales guy with no response I sent an email and his reply was an email address. I didn’t know who this guy was with the company or what I was supposed to do with this address. I called the guy instead of sending an email by googling the email address and found out he is the sales manager who refused to help me. He explained the car was sold without a warranty and would not give in even though I didn’t get home with the car without issue. He said he could not pay another shop to labor. I called his bluff and told him i would bring it there and they could do the 5-hour job to fix it. After an hour on the phone they agreed to pay half. I’m out 600 dollars which isn’t that much, but the lack of a dealership to take ownership of cars they are selling is ludacris. In a business you do What is right and sometimes that involves a loss. $600 to me vs 1200 to a multi million company its a no brainer. DO WHATS RIGHT. DO NOT BUY A CAR FROM MARTIN NISSAN!!!!!!!!! More
